Angry Logic behind heavy reinforced armor?

Does anyone know why they decided to not allow you to pilot/drive covered cockpit vehicles while wearing the reinforced armor? Why do I need to be in agile armor or lighter to drive a truck (AMS, ANT, etc.) when I can get on a tiny ATV with my bulky heavy armor?

Were the Devs trying to promote SOLO gaming?

I can see their reasoning behind not letting Rexo pilot aircraft & tanks, you need all the room you can in those, but as far as the other vehicle go...beats me.

All of beta the forum wishlist was filled will people wanting to drive Ants, Dels, Sunds, etc while wearing Rexo. The devs never even acknowledged them.

Just get rid of reinforced all together. Agile is much better and you can always pilot your vehicals and you run so much faster.

The idea is likely that it enforces different roles for low level players, and even for high level players to a certain extent. Rexos carry a substantially greater amount of firepower than agiles. By forcing agiles to pilot vehicles, it forces lower level players to specialize, and it prevents high level players from being completely versatile.

Right but then you cant tote a decimator/sniperrifle/AV weapon in your secondary which is the major reason people take reinforced. As far as why you cant take it in aircraft and ants etc it's a balance issue, ditto on the AMS and similar, there must be a price to pay also aircraft cockpits are fairly small. I whould like to see the transport vehicles allow the driver to be in reinforced (gal sund del) as a matter of throwing a bone to those who hook up their fellow players.

Reinforced Armor should really give you an advantage. Ok so you can't pilot a lot of vehicles, but give me 200 armor then. Honestly, Re-ex armor should be able to stand up to more punishment, but the 50 more armor barely is noticeable and the lack of mobility is a killer.

Reinforced does really give you an advantage-- it lets you have your AV weapon instantly accessible for when that MAX comes around the corner. 50 more armor is plenty.

Pros: You can carry 14 ACEs, 5 Decimators, 2 Bolt Drivers plus lots of ammo and your damage absorption factor changes. Also, the BANK becomes useful to use on yourself

Cons: You move slowly, consume a lot of stamina while Surging, costs 3 certs, can't drive/gun in many vehicle situations

Basically, some people like it and some don't. I lean towards 'don't' because Surge owns so hard and anything that limits it is shady and also 3 certs could be spent on something that has few drawbacks, such as the Mosquito. If it were 2 certs or if you could change armor at the vehicle pad, I would probably give it full endorsement.

Kind of. But honestly I can swap out my weapon for the deci in my inventory in only about .25 seconds more time than it takes to swap to your second rifle slot. It takes some practice but it's very doable.

I do agree that the 50 extra armor does very little in a game where the weapons do this much damage per shot. Couple the fact that 50 extra armor is very little in terms of actual extra protection with the speed reduction and the only reason I can see for people to even bother with it is the added inventory space.

I like the extra weapons , the lack of speed can be overcome with skill

Yes and no regarding overcoming the lack of speed. In Standard armor I can run from base to base because Surge lasts almost 2 minutes. In reinforced, it's a painful trek and takes a lot of time. In that case, it's just math.

Rather then extra points of armor I whould like to see extra deflection value. I forget what the rate of deflection is as opposed from agile to standard but I think it could stand a little bit of a boost, the way I figure it boosting reinforced armor deflection value whould start providing a bullwick against all those surging agile heavy assault guys.

Yeah but anything other than an Infiltration Suit sucks surge stamina like nobody's business anyways. The Inf Suit is still the only thing that lets you run from base to base without being tired by the time you need to fight.

Alot of people forget, or don't know, that this is one of rexo's biggest strengths. I forget the actual values, but the threshold of rexo is 2 or 3 points more than agile, maybe more. This is huge in the field, when you take damage, but not enough to kill you. It's really more than just 50 more armor, it's also the extra threshold, essentially giving you more health as well. But for the 3 cert points, I certainly would not be opposed to an armor boost at all.
