Revolutions Spoiler filled review, shotgun style.

I went and saw it, let me say this, I was not overly impressed.

Yes, the special effects... they rocked. But I have a question... why didn't the humans have an emp device, portable... why did they have to wait for the ship to make it in

Also, the end, it sucked, big time. I wanted more closure then that for something that was supposed to leave no loose ties.. that one had wide open doors.

Trinity... no surprise there really. Think they drew her death scene out too much but whatever.

The new Oracle, cool they handled that well. She did a decent job.

VERY little "matrix" scenes, lots of Zion, I wanted to see Neo go into the machine world digitally, that would have rocked.

All in all, better special effects, still times overly cartoonish, but still enjoyable. Did Neo actually DIE? I think he did... but did he? Oracles comment about seeing Neo again says 20 years from now, we will see The Matrix, Generations.

Anyhoots, those are my first flash thought.

No, the Watchicowski brothers would never bring neo back. It doesn't fit in the religous themes and motives.

Neo was a Jesus character. He needed to die to save humanity. A second coming of Jesus would suggest the end of the world.

Seeing Neo again would occur in heaven. Especially since one of the most important messages was regarding faith. I believe the oracle believed in an afterlife. Quotes like, "I didn't know, but I believed" coming at the very end of the movie point to this.

I totally agree with everything you just said. Of course one thing u didnt mention. The whole idea of PEACE. Thats total BULLSHIT. Im reading Dune: The Machine Crusade now and that idea would never happen. How could machines that wanted to kill off the human race, well atleast control them have piece. When the humans want their world back. It wont last a minute. I was expecting the machines just die, cut off the power from the Fields. BUT NO, there had to be PEACE, what a crappy ending. Some parts of the movie were too WWII, or Vietnam War cliche. Like the whole ammo thing, and the gunfire in the background. And parts of it were boring.

Sounds craptacular.

You're reading Dune? Does that one deal with the Butlerian Jihad? I've only got Dune and Dune Messiah. I need to pick up the rest sometime....

Warning: By reading the Dune books you are instantly biased against 99% of all Dune games. Seriously. The books imply a shield will instantly attract all saand worms in a huge area, one third of Emperor: Battle For Dune units are shielded, worms come after them as often as others.

The games don't follow the books well, by reading the books you begin to dislike the games.

Well its a game based on the movie universe, the events taking place in the game are made up. Im not biased, but i think a dune game was a bad idea, something with the butlerian jihad would have worked out better

The biggests bullshit in the movie was they never gave an acceptable explanation of how Neo ended up in the train station without being jacked into the Matrix. That made absolutley no sense.

The line in the movie that describes the movie best is the line that came from the commander of their military: "this makes no sense"

The series you're reading has nothing to do with the Matrix. Even granting that they both contain machines fighting humans, the machines are apparently very different both in motivation and the actions they take. Comparing the two makes little sense.
How could machines that wanted to kill off the human race, well atleast control them have peace. When the humans want their world back. It wont last a minute. I was expecting the machines just die, cut off the power from the Fields. BUT NO, there had to be PEACE, what a crappy ending.
1. The machines don't want to eradicate the human race. One of the main ideas behind the movies is they need the humans.

2. Smith had their back to the wall. Agreeing to peace was their only hope. For all we know the machines were as sick of the war as the humans. By agreeing to peace they could have been accomplishing two goals. Another option is that there are opposing schools of thought within the machine world. No one ever said they all agree with each other. I got the distinct impression that there was some sort of debate going on behind that odd face between the time Neo made his offer and the machines agreed to it.

3. We have no basis to think they would abandon their agreement without cause and it seemed in "The Matrix" the machines were in fact willing to make good on the deals they make.
Some parts of the movie were too WWII, or Vietnam War cliche. Like the whole ammo thing, and the gunfire in the background.
...too WW2? Vietnam war cliche? I guess I missed the napalm dropping and nazis getting shot . Ya lost me on this one.

As for the ammo thing, yeah, they could have just stamped M.A.F.A. on it and said screw it like those "great" 80's action flicks where cops can fire 20 shots out of a snub six shooter without ever realoding due to the Magical Ammunition Fairy sitting on their shoulder. Honestly though, if those things had been firing machine guns for 15 minutes without someone reloading them there'd be people saying how dumb that was. Kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess. The gunfire thing makes perfect sense to me. You have a bunch of exo suits dual wielding machine guns. Why wouldn't there be a ton of gunfire flying around?
And parts of it were boring.
I assume you're referring to the parts where the plot advances. Think back to the first movie. There are many slow parts to it. The Matrix series have never been movies mainly based around action or special effects. They have geat action and special effects but it's always seemed to me the main emphasis was on the very concept of the very world the movies seek to create. Unlike that shitty preview I had to sit through. Jesus, did anyone else think "Torque" looks like a pile of monkey shit? Bleh that's a whole 'nother story.

Anyways it always seems, and sadly I might add, due to the almost awe inspiring special effects and action scenes the first movie contained those two factors are the first thing the sequels have been judged on by most people. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone here really, just stating in general.

Now then, the train station thing. I guess if I'm willing to accept that he can "see" the machines and insta-kill them later in the movie I'm willing to shrug off the train station. The way I understood it is he is somehow able to access the machine world while in the real world and that's how he was able to kablooie the squids at the end of Reloaded. Possibly he accesses it through the "train station" between the Matrix and the machine world. Not sure /shrug. I do agree that they could have walked us through it a little better but in the end it doesn't bother me all that much.

Thx, Lil Elf, you cleared most of it up.

As for the train station this is what I think happened. In Reloaded, he emp's the sentinels. Then he is in the coma. In Revolutions, when he was talking to the Oracle I believe, he asks her questions regarding what he was supposed to do, and why she didn't tell him. Then she points to the sign above her door way. I think it means, Know thyself, and she explains that he wasn't ready to know that he had predecessors and the such. It gets brought up, why could he stop the sentinels in the real world and then she explains that the power of the one extends past this world(the matrix). She then explains that he should've died from the emp blast because he wasn't ready. But, he was in the real world then. So instead of "giving up" and dieing, he fought it, and ended up in between the real world and the matrix.

Yes, its still kinda etchy how he got there, but wts....

They didn't have the Emp cause it would mess up the dock and their own equipment.(Listen to Locke after the Logos came in.)

I agree with you on the ending, too wide open.

Trinity scene, nice but too long.....

Not sure what you mean by, "I wanted to see Neo go into the machine world digitally, that would have rocked." But the Neo Smith fight at the end was uber matrix.

Yeah, I think Neo is pretty much toast. It fits in with the religious aspects as well. Lil Elf put it nicely....

I didn't mean with the EMP to have a device sitting there, I mean haveing something other then the hovercraft with them. Why couldn't they have had portable ones? We are actually working on tanks that fire EMP puleses, directed ones, why couldn't they have had that instead of duel machine gun exo suits?
