I have just finished my 4 day trial. ( I didn't get 7 days due to download issues )
Planetside has huge potential, which is as yet unharnessed. I assume that the devs thought the comunity would take hold and control the war themselves, but they forgot they are playing with trigger happy FPSers with the patiece of a 3 year old. What they should do is hire some "commanders." these comanders could really be paid minimum wage, so its little expense for SOE. Voluntary workers aren't such a good idea. I've seen how that kind of thing can go wrong. The commandes would co-ordinate battles and assign missions. DEPLOYMENT OFFICER: Control - The continent on which a squad should fight on. When you come online, you join up with your outfit and squad up as normal, squad up with some randoms, or activate "reinforcements" in which case the deployment officer will assign you a squad that needs bolstering. When you are ready your squad leader or platoon leader activates "Looking for orders" the Deployment Officer sees this and can look at all your squad stats if necesary and decides where you squad is needed. He decides this on population, and where continent commanders have requested additional forces. CONTINENTAL COMMANDERS I'm unsure how many there would need to be per continent, or per server. It'd need to be looked into properly to get the best of performance and wages. The continental commanders control the action. He/she/they decides what squad goes where. If that squad obeys orders they get extra XP for kills gained inside their specified area. If they DONT fight where ordered, and have activated that they wanted to fight this way, they get a small XP penalty on any XP gained elsewhere. If a squad or individual does not want to fight under the command of the SOE continental commanders, they just don't opt in when they log on, and can fight as they please like we do just now. WHAT THIS WOULD DO: Cut down the totaly unenjoyable zergs Spread the battle on more fronts, and even away from facilites giving some open terrain action, giving you more of a ence that your fighting in a WAR Make some REALLY fun scenarios that a single player game would be hard pushes to do. Screams from the frontlines for reinforcements, requests from the north for air support will no longer go unheard. Something might actualy get done. When sh** gets too hot a proper retreat is ordered etc. If you have ANY imagination you can see how it would be cool. Help lone players and newbies. The deployment officer will see their stats. give some DEPTH to the game. People complain that they get on, fight, go to bed and when they come back everything they did is undone. Well no more, because thing will be uber co-ordinated. All this while still allowing people to do theit own thing if they want. ---- Obviously this is just a rough idea and need refining and worked out properly, and an interface would need to be made for the commanders but I really think this is the way planetside needs to go (and should already have gone.) If somone would be so kind to post this on planetside's relevant forum. Hamma? Im sure you could oblige me by posting a little link please? I haven't subscribed yet, so can't use them .I'm either going to use my parents credit card (which I dont like doing, I'm 21 ffs) or see if SOE will let me use WorldPay (which I forgot I had.) Sorry all for the loooooong post, and typos and spelling. Its 6am here and I finished work at 3am. Please post comments on my idea people.

That basically makes them devs that can do the cool stuff becuse they would have to have some dev power stuff to know where all the enemy units are. Plus like SecondRaven said, there is no way that a person is going to tell someone where to go unless they earn said person's respect, and some people dont even follow the best of cr5's. For this "Contintent commanders" to have any succes in what you said he will do, you have to give him the abialty*SP* to transport people from place to place, thus making him a dev.
