I thought the MAX speed boost was just like a really fast run where you couldn't turn very quickly. And you should be able to use it for short bursts, in the description of the Vanu MAX it said that with proper use of speed boost/jump jets you could go over walls and other obstacles. I imagine it as a way to do quick manuvers or long distance travel.
I guess basically I'm saying that you should be able to stop quickly when using the speed boost, and it would be cool to have an autorun feature for any time you can't use other transport.

Sprinting will have minimal combat effectiveness, as you can't turn well at all while sprinting. Its use is to let it keep up with ground vehicles when going across country, as only an APC and Galaxy can carry a MAX, while infantry will have a variety of vehicles they can hitch a ride in. So the Sprint ability for the MAX would need to be able to be used quite a bit, otherwise a MAX would severely slow your group down.

Pretty much every MMOG has a movement lock, I am quite sure there will be one for this game. Even if theres not theres always a way to lock it by utilizing the movement key + chatbox.. its gimpy but it works.
Also if you have a Joystick many of them have the slider piece on it, simply map the slider piece to your acceleration/movement and that could work as well. Even if there isn't a simple to use run-lock in the game at first , the minimal coding requirements will implement it quickly, most likely.

The bad thing about auto-run is when you turn it on and leave to go to the bathroom or something, only to come back to find that you've been running into a tree for several minutes.
But overall I think it is a plus. You would wear out the uparrow key if you had to hold it down all the time.

Heh, or warp gates, or any vehicle almost. There's alot of ways to get around in PS. Drop pods too. I wonder if it's like BF1942 where you can jump on a vehicle and just ride on top hoping you won't fall or off or get shot. Well, there's already a thread somewhere on this so don't reply really to that thing.
