Wierd problem that has me totally stomped

Right so heres the deal, whenever i scroll i get this wierd clicking/ticking kinda noise. It just suddenly started one day, not after a major driver update or hardware change.

I figured it might be a problem whit the speakers, but it aint. I unplugged the jack, still there, turned off the power, still there, plugged out the power cable in the wall, sound still there.

Right, next step... tought it might be the internal speaker so i ripped the sucker off, didn't work, sound is still there.

Booted up linux to see if it was there, no sound at all, all quiet when i scrolled.

Its driving me nuts, not knowing what the hell creates the sound so bleh, anyone else ever had this problem or know of a fix?

Theres not a single sound setting on (least that i know of), it happens whenever i scroll in whatever application in windows.

My speakers are disconnected, my internal pc speaker has been removed. Hows it possible for it to even make a sound?

Have the same thing here Zatrais .. haven't been able to track down the little bugger either. Most of the time I don't notice it .. other times it's irritating.

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio devices

Click the 'sounds' tab. In the window, scroll down to 'Windows Explorer' and in the sub menu, highlight 'Start navigation'

Pull down the drop down box below, where it currently says 'Start' or 'Windows Start' and choose '(none)' instead. Click 'Apply', then click OK, and close the Control Panel.

Lets try this a 3rd time, there's NO sound settings on. My speakers are unplugged (both power and the jack to the audigy) and my pc speaker is physically unplugged.

You have a modem installed? Pull that out, that is the only thing left with a speaker attached to it.
