Something I would like to see as time goes on, is customizable Vehicles in PS. What I mean is... like a MAX for instance, you choose a type to go out with. Anti-Air.. Anti-Personnel..
I would like to see it where as you approch the higher BEP you can customize what weapons are on your choice ride.. Thoughts anyone?

I agree totally. If I'm going into combat w/ my squad or just some fellow soldiers and we're going to be short on air support it would be nice to equip my tank w/ some higher power AA. I'm sure there are plenty of scenarios in which it would be nice to equip your tank/plane w/ different weapons.

I agree with Sputty. Take Mech 4, for example. People would sit for hours, even days specing out there mech. Sure, it was nice to make yourself more effective, but the game just devolved into one shot kills, who can fire faster. When I did beta for Battletech 3025, it was much better, because it was all stock mechs. No mechlab, which I felt added a whole lot more to the game. Even with mech 4, you could find some servers that did stock mechs only. It allowed for a more tactical mindset, rather than just who can shoot the fastest.

There are two problems with this:
First is that it is tough to balance. In a MMOG you want lots of balance and allowing too much variability in vehicle weapons will make this tough. It will reduce the need for the squads that make this game great, instead of a squad/platoon working together to fill multiple roles by using different vehicles you would only need heavy tanks with different weapons. Maybe a heavily armored AA platform would imbalance the game. Thats not to say custom vehicles would be impossible, just that it would take a lot of extra work/balancing and the devs probably have better things to do. The other problem is for other players. If you see a lone tank while your flying a reaver you expect to have an advantage over it. With this system you would never know what to expect. This isnt the end of the world and you could argue that its better that way, but still in war certain vehicles are better against others and its nice to have recognizable differences. After all, whats the point of having different vehicles at all if they can all mount the same/similar weapons. It is a neat idea, but I think the biggest problem is again the fact that only a few people can do the work of many. The point of having all those certs is so that people can have different roles. The MAX is unique in the sense that it retains some of the customability of infantry and some of the abilities of vehicles. And I would like to remind you that all those different configs for the MAX need a different cert.

I think Ludio nailed it.
While it'd be fun to be able to swap out various weapons on your jeep or tank or what have you, it'd likely just end up 'overbalancing' one thing or another, and I'm sure none of us want to see battles devolve into zerging bases with exactly the same vehicle/weapon setup

I understand the balance issue.. but here is how I see it:
Each of the three variations for the vehivles would ROCK against one type of unti... but be weak against another.... call the rock-paper-siccors(I FORGOT HOW TO SPELL THAT BITE ME IAM LAZY) Anyhoots, I think it could work, with some tweaking.

Well isn't that basically what the MAX currently has? The MAX requires three different certs to get the three different configurations so to keep it balanced each vehicle that had the three configs would have to have three different certs. That could work, but it would require a lot of certs. And what about people who want a tank that can do multiple things (like what they have now), the main cannon for anti-vehicle and the secondary gun for anti-infantry.
Im not saying that your idea wont work, it has promise and I think players ability to choose what they want is important, but it would require a lot more certs in the game, or some other balancing. I really think the devs made the vehicles for specific roles, if you want custom weapons, use an infantry/MAX.

See, it was the MAX that got me thinking..
"Why not the vehicles too...?" I think it could be a nice future addition.. if you choose the wrong config and go into battle.. you wont be as effective... same thing with a max...
