Non-Combatant Experience

[SIZE=3][[COLOR=White]FONT=Arial]
What do you think about non-combatant expierence? It would benefit players that prefer the logistical side of PS ie any troop or veh carrier, ant etc.

As I see it they would get exp from providing a service that a particular veh is equip'd with. Or mabye a enemy veh come within 100 yards and you dont die, thats worth something. you could even go as far as saying if you drop off a squad and that squad captures a base you might get a bonus.

Every action a non-combatants veh can preform is worth exp. Imagine setting up an ams and every spawn was worth 1 exp. Coarse when "they" come to blow up your ams you can't fire back at least thats the idea

I think the level of play in PS would go up accross the board if specializing in non-combatant play was profitable. Granted most people want to just kill things but image if your friends joined you and you were able to kill more with more style and flair (if thats your thing). I have no illusions that there would be a small percentage that would play this way but that is all that is needed.

That made no sense whatsoever, Vash. The fact that he is not part of a squad does not mean that he is not benefitting the empire.

I would love this...but...it's too abusable.

Shoot a squadmate, he spawns at your AMS. 5xp. Rinse, repeat.
Drop someone off, 5xp. Rinse, repeat.

another thing that hurst me in the Xp deparment is the Vanguard alot of times when i go to get one i can find a squad member to gun for me for what ever reasion (ie they grabed a reaver,MAX,VAN or just on the front line). so i let any passer bye gun some time i get some cross eyed mofo who can hit a parked AMS. but some times i get lucky and find some one who rocks on the 150mm and with me driveing we make shit dead and keep the tank alive for like 30-45 min in the front lines. what hurts me is my gunner get the most kills and i dont get to share the xp

there sould be a way to share xp with your gunner if hes not in your squad

I would love the exp to be implimented also, but as Searo said it is to exploitable. If you got exp for healing or repairing you shot a squad mate, heal/repair him then shoot him again. It would be pretty boring to stand there shooting and then healing your squad member but we would have people doing it just for the exp. If you could somehow get around that then I agree it should be put in.

I used to say that AMS users should get BEP for people using their AMS's. Thats mainly becasue I was in a crapy outfit that didn't work together and I wasn't getting much BEP for base captures. I am now in a geat outfit, and am much wiser.

You should look at your services as a benefit to your squad first, then platoon, then outfit, then your outfit allies, and finaly the fodder.

If you plant an ams in a good poisiton, drop your squad in a gal, keep them alive with health and armour, or re-arm them by hacking; they'll cap the base, and you'll get BEP. THATS your payment. Also, feeling that you're wanted in the squad is great. Adv. med is an expensive and personaly useless cert, but the amount of thanks you'll get off your squad when you revive them makes up for it,

Sure it is expoitable, but who in their right mind would bother? The xp gains he is suggesting are so minimal that it is more in the way of a token to say "good work". You may recieve 300xp total for an AMS that is deployed; holy shit! a whole 300xp! You would recieve a bit under 2xp per minute tking friendlies and getting them to spawn, unless you got more people in on it. A wopping total of 120xp per hour. Sure, you could get more people in on it, a whole squad even, just to give 1 guy fuck all xp. More xp would be yeilded by joining a squad and finding a fight than you could ever make exploiting that system. Unless you joined a shit squad that killed nothing.

If people could be bothered exploiting such a system, let them. They could gain more xp running enemies over in the AMS that they will doing that. Same with the transporting thing.

How many people actually do enough non-combat stuff to warrant a reward of this sort? This is a FPS after all.

Ordinary enough that we aren't baking bread or camping spawns to make it closer to an RPG or whatever else. It's FPS enough in the sense that there is not much capacity for people who do not wish to fight to enjoy the game.

Depends on your definition of fighting. When I REZ a dude and patch him up to go back to the lines, that is fighting. Same thing with running troops in my Gal or driving my prowler. Yet, none of these things actually involve pulling a trigger.

The only rewards I enjoy for these activities come from my squad/platoon/outfit and nothing to do with direct xp. I don't do this stuff for the XP and I do have fun.

However, I must note, I will not take mercs in my prowler. I actually lock it for group when I get it, and never allow non-group members access. That way, any xp gained from my hard work, benefits me too.

Heck, I gotta admit, when I am freelancing (hard to do with limited weaps), I never go out of my way to heal/repair folks, why bother since there is nothing in it for me. Sounds selfish, but that's the way it is. Now if they wanted to throw a 100 or so xp my way for a REZ, I might just start looking for corpses more often.

When will you learn that this game is more than "I have more exp than you".... if someone wants to drop people off let them. I know the exp draw is very strong and we all like to get that hit, but support roles are not the roles for newbies either. I wasn't an AMS driver till BR14 or 15. I love nothing more than knowing that the AMS I set up was still there at the end of the hack and that it played a pivitol role in capturing that base. That's satisfaction.
