I haven't mentioned it yet, but Christ with a kitten, this addition really reminds me of something I suggested a long time ago. Of course, I've no mind to try and claim the developer's ideas for enhancing the game as my own, although I am pleased it's being added into the game anyway. Outfits are the lifeblood of this game, and are pivotal in regard to how long-term goals will be added to make the game more enjoyable and addictive as the months go by.
Anyway, I was going to bump that old thread, as there are some other ideas there that I think are decent, but I'll just start up a new thread and we'll take it from here. What do you think we should be able to spend these Outfit Points on? Obviously by my post in the linked thread I'm in favor of small, infrequent, yet permanent boosts to various capabilities of individuals (or their vehicles) in a given Outfit. I'd like to hear what ideas you guys have in regard to how these points should be spent, apart from Outfit Base Ownership, and Orbital Strikes. |

I like the outfit base ownership idea, that makes something to spend them on. I also think OSs should drain O'points. There was an idea of an outfit "Olympics" continent a while bacl, saw it on the OF. If opposing outfits could compete, they could gamble there O'points. O'points could be used to buy health or armor boosts. Like, use 20,000 O'points to have all your member have 150 health for 12 hours. There could be all kinds of variations with that.

Bonus Outfit Points for winning the proposed Outfit competitions is a good idea.
I personally don't much care for the idea of Outfit Base Ownership, however. It seems rather trivial, and I'm sure that the practical use of it would be such that you'd be better off saving those points for Orbital Strikes instead. |

here goes:
i dont think outfit pts should be able to enhance anything in regards to weapons/armor/vehicles, that would leave the soloers out of the feast i think that you should be able to maybe get lets say something like a NPC Free Lancer (mersenary) or something like base (non outfit) upgrades for a few hours or something or maybe you could be able to spend pts on extra CRs. but it would be from YOUR pts, not the collected pts from everyone, just your personal stash or maybe i know you said not OSs, but i think they should stay free, just CR5s can use thier pts to upgrade it to a larger OS i like the Mersenary idea the best tho

Could you imagine if there were numerous things to use O'points for, and if outfit's could trade points? I can picture it now, HMX-1 buys GODJOEY from ******* for 2 million O'points. You could sorta of trade players for points, then use those points on something. I just can't think of anything real good right now.

they cannot respawn, but have more health/armor and have skills that are not available in game. like complete invisability, or a powerblade to kill ppl in one hit (taken from Brute Force's Hawk for the X-Box), or heatvision, xray vision, or being able to place spy cams inside a base that your entire outfit can view, ect

Even still, I would hope that this addition would drive solo players into Outfits. Communities are very important to the success of MMORPGs, and the less solo players we have, the better chance each person will stay in the game, even if he should tire of it somewhat, because he doesn't want to give up playing with friends. Either way, in what I refer to the benefits would be very minor and would be relatively few for all but the most successful Outfits. Acquiring a single upgrade would require a major investment of Outfit Points -- Outfit Points which could have been used on Orbital Strikes or Outfit Base Ownership. Ideally however, the best solution would be to combine an Outfit-related benefit system like what the devs are going for now with Outfit Points, and an individual based benefit system, which could instead operate off of Battle Experience, including stuff like buying an extra cert point or for a lot of BEP's, or getting customization enhancements.
That is pretty much the reasoning behind the total lack of NPCs in the game, stated a long time ago, probably before Beta. Last edited by Warborn; 2003-12-02 at 02:16 AM. |

warborn your idea is quite simply briliant. it gives outfits much more meaning and something to focus on while still not ever ending the game.
lets be real people wouldnt join an out fit for enhancements (most anyway) or even a chance to earn enhancements they would join for a team to fight with. solo'ers already acknowledge there willingness to sacrafise organized team work to play alone so let those who are organized work towards a greater goal. |

a lot of times (and ive been in this situation more than once), the commander has no idea wtf he is doing, and refuses to hand over command, thus the unit gets disbanded due to everyone leaving and either going solo or joining up with another unit. i solo a lot becuase my outfit is that active at nights, but ive tiped the scales more than once by hacking, blowing gens, ect soloers should not be flamed, they make thier own desicions and we should appreachiate that. PS. I know i said i like to be in squads, but like i said up there, my outfits not active 24/7 like some, so i solo a lot

The problem with your analogy about soloers doing this and soloers doing that is they're not doing anything one guy in a squad going off could do. I'm sorry i will bash soloers and lone wolves, unapologeticly I might add. Because I've seen what a tight voice chat linked squad can do, max's in the front, heavy assault and shotty wielders bringing up the rear, medics and engineers following to bring the wounded back up to speed and perform rear guard duty, as long as your people have the balls to keep moving, and dont head for a place they know they will get swarmed (i.e. going for spawn instead of the gens or the CC) they can sweep right through, get the hack and hold it. So yes i dont mind that people who dont want to have an outfit or a squad get left out in the cold, besides how many people do you know that have no outfit.
On the subject of the actual post. I whould like to see the Outfit bases beefed up. Thicked IC over the door locks and command console (longer hack times, longer turn over times) perhaps the ability to install more turrets, (deploy a spitfire, invest points into it, becomes regular base turret. The ability to upgrades turrets with flak cannons and vehicle seeking missiles. The ability to cover the whole courtyard with mines at a touch of the button on the main console, yea that sort of stuff.
