Making the move is going to put a hurt on my PC. What to upgrade first

P4 1.4Ghz
512mb Ram
20 GB 7200 RRM HD
Abit th7-raid MB
on board sound
GeForce 3 64mb AGP gfx Card
19 in Monitor.

Looks like I will be moving to Emerald this weekend. So to prepare I went over and played on a new char for a while. I noticed that when I get into tower battles or crowded hallways I go down to 2-10 fps. That ='s death every Fucking time. No chance, just respawn thank you for playing lol. This happens some times on Koried too. Just not as often as it will happen now.

What would be the best thing to upgrade on my PC? I need to get my FPS up in larger battles. My first thought is Ram. Then I got to looking at it and PS is only using 380mb at most. Even in large battles. So should I go up in gfx card or add more ram, or get a new processor. I just want to be able to get 20-30 in the tower/hall battles. Oh and I don't have a lot of cash to do this with since we are so close to x mas. Thanks for any help you can give.

Another 512megs of ram will give your system a huge boost.

I can't stree the importance of a good video card though. Even with a full gig of ram, your system will choke once it hits your video card. You can pick up 9600 pros for as low as $100 bucks now if you shop around.

If you can, do both. If you are forced to do just one...I'd say upgrade your video.

PS will use like a certain percentage of your free resources, meaning most of them. You throw a gig at it and it'll use it.

Are you using DDR or RDRAM though?

Faster video would help defintely. GF3 is decent, but not great.

yes your video car realy is, and your CPU is a tad slow for the newest stuff stuff, but that is realy cost inefective for you. I would lookin into getting a Radeon 9600 pro or FX5700 ultra

w00t, GO ATI! Got a 9800 pro myself...NVIDIA is going 2 hell...fast...

An upgrade of everthing would help lol. throw a 512mb ddr stick in, or even a 256mb if ur low on cash will give u a boost. Ur processor is a bit...eh...down there. That should be on ur list 2. But i think the vid card is the first thing u should upgrade

id worry about your video card memory first because the computer is most dependant on Video card then mem then CPU. Dscyth plz stop telling people to buy the parts your have because not everyone can afford super expensive parts

I remember a while back that a prog came out for win98 that allowed games to consume more then the ~75% they take up. Is there some type of equivilant for 2k or XP pro?

What?! Im not telling him to buy what I have. All i said was get ATI...its pretty much proven that newer ATI's are better than NVIDIA's Geforces, not to mention the whole directx 9.0b thing.
