Its getting a bit dull playing with my graphics settings all at the minimum and the sound turned off (believe it or not, turning off the sound ~doubled my FPS), but now that I've been introduced to the genere I'm hooked.

1.4 GHZ Athelon
512meg PC133 RAM
64meg Ge-Force2 MX400
Mobo integrated sound card

PS plays smooth so long as I'm alone and in the middle of nowhere, but if someone starts shooting at me, my harddrive starts being accessed and the next frame I see is choosing a respawn location.

I'll never understand why everyone always thinks Planetside was the first MMOFPS. I guess WW2 Online is what? an RTS? Oh a shooting RPG maybe.. No love for the WW2O.

Ah well, I guess theres some reason why its not an FPS and I just need enlightenment

WWII Online is billed as a massively multiplayer online simulation. It has some FPS elements but is not a FPS in the sense that most are.

RAM would be the cheapest way.
I'd recommend getting some larger RAM sticks AND a new vid card.

If the game is accessing your hard drive mid-play then it's most likely using a lot of virtual memory. That slows the computer way down and gives you bad lag. The more RAM you have, the less it has to do that and the faster your game runs.

Other things you can do that help are defragging your hard drive and making sure there are no programs running in the background.

WAAAHAHAHA, yes she is. I think 1-1/2 ghz of Corsair TWINX XMS3200 DDR400mhz Duel Channel RAM will do fine though.

i would keep it at a gig(2x 512), or 2 gigs(4x 512), because you can't have dual channel with 3 sticks, and thats the whole thing behind the DDR technology.

One of my outfit said he had 2 gigs of ram, I laughed and asked if planetsdie really needed it, and he seemed shocked and said "yeah, it uses about 1.3gig"

That a lotta memory

2x1gig DDR333 is about 600 :S

yeesh

*continues to love PS on a PIII 866*
My motherboards only graded to 1ghz, so overclocking is out of the question, and the ram in here (all 512 of it) is non DDR 133 i think.

..the only thing thats keeping me alive is my geforce 4 ti4200 :\

The bets thing to do it get 1 gig or 2. Corsairs Twin X Pro DDR 500 is only 358 per set!(1gig) thats only 708 if you want 2gigs. I thought that was one hell of a deal for 1 gig though!

Itll make your computer go Vroom Vroom!
