ok for christmas im getting a radeon 9600 and im sure of it, i dont have to worry because im getting a professional to install it, anyways to update the ATI catalyst drivers do i need the startup disks for windows xp professional, because when i tried updating them with my intel card, which used intel drivers it told me it needed disks, im not sure if theyre windows xp disks but i needed some sort of disks, now to upgrade the catalyst drivers do i need any disks or not? because the person who sold me the comp, a friend of my stepdad never gave me the windows xp professional disks

If you are going to get catalysts don't get the newest 3.9's, they might cause some problems in games for you.
I use the 3.7 catalysts, i wouldnt recommend going to the 3.9's, i had them and they were causing multiple problems with some games, just some friendly advice |

NO. Go here: http://www.omegacorner.com/index_ati.html
Grab the drivers for you OS off of the menu on the left side. You get two options when you install them, quality or performance. You choose what you'd like, but I recommend the performance. My 3dMark are much higher with the performance omega drivers over the ATI Catalysts. |

bah omegas are good but ATI doen't need them to look better anyway. Beside he way behind on uptodated drivers he doen't have the 3.10 Catalysts or the 53.03 nvidias remade.

Edit: I just installed the 3.10's and everything seems ok. I only did it because it specifically said the Call of Duty would no longer cause the operating system to stop responding. I had problems playing CoD before and I'll see if this fixes it. Also says a halo problem was fixed just for you halo nuts out there Last edited by dscytherulez; 2003-12-19 at 08:55 PM. |
