What The Hell Is Wrong With This Gamecard!?

i REALLY need help here. i have this subscription card that i got today, but it won't freaking be accepted! i tried typing it like this:****-****-****-***
and like this **** **** **** ***
it seems like it just doesn't want to be accepted for some reason. should i not space the digits out? is it a bum card? or am i just typing it wrong?
help.
