Everyone bitched, whined and moaned about the lancer sucking. So, being myself, I certed AV, grabbed one, and went out into the field.
And I figured out WHY people hate the lancer - Its infinitly more situational than either of the other two AV weapons. If you're running around indoors with a lancer you're meat. However, outside, they ph33r my lancer. Flail? 3 clips. Lightning? 2 clips Yes, that is a clip. But, considering the ROF and the indistinct sound it makes, the driver has no idea whats going on until its too late. Combine this with even mediocre skill with the bolt driver, and you can hit vehicle moving at top speed, and aircraft, as well. I dont see what all the bitchings about. I think the lancer has the shortest TTK of all AV weapons.

The lancer sucks. Flails are planted in the ground and Lightnings are easy to kill with anything. Currently the best AV is the Phoenix, followed by the Striker and I dont consider any of them actually good at blowing up vehicles. Good at chasing them away? you bet, but its the Decimators and other vehicles that steal your kills

Phoe is very fun to use, but has a shitty TTK. 3 reloads to kill a MAX, 1 clip of lancer to do the same thing.
Dont get me wrong. I love all AV weaponry, and am good at killing VEHICLES (read: not tanks) with them. However, I just <3 the lancer as it pwnz.

Get a MAX outdoors with a straight line of sight, and the Lancer will beat the Phoenix. Sure, Phoenix can go over walls, but those rockets do take time to get to their destination, and what happens when your target moves? At least with the Lancer you get to laugh at them when they die.

Yeah i'f i can i try to pick up lancers if i don't have to go around or over something, it just does so much more damage in a shorter time. If i only have one shot of the three wepons its the pheonix because i'm almost assured a hit and it does the most damage in one shot.
They all still need more AV damage now that the vehicles are so uber. (phoenix kills should be reffered to in clips too becsaue one shot is one clip i think some people don't realy get it)

Personally, never been hit with one as I'm a Reaver pilot. However, I wouldn't doubt that if you can sneak up on a vehicle, you can nail it. I took down a VS MAX once with Agile Armor and a Sweeper. He was at full health, too- the base was taken, and everyone was dead except me.
Skill can make you do anything. Except that guy with perfect aim, permanent surge, and the full-auto Bolt Driver. That's a hacker.

The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

I agree the lancer is quite a good gun. However, it essentially costs me six certs to use (because I consider Rexo useless except when coupled with AV cert) and so, after they nerfed it's anti-infantry ability I dropped both certs for SA.

Yeah. i dont call it the "AV sniper rifle of doom" because I get up close. 90% of the time when I use lancer, Im either engaging from the roof, or 200+ meters.

Lancer is pretty delicate to use properly. Landing all 6 shots against a fast moving target at range is no small feat.
If you can do that, though, it's a wonderful weapon. You're also probably in the minority, since the majority of VS can barely point it in the right direction.

Beautifully put. The "Real Truth" is that TTK is not all important, but rather is simply an indicator of kills per death (how many people can you kill before you die?). Death = downtime. The less often you die, the more time you spend in actual combat, wich means you will actualy do more DoT with a pheonix. |

Um, not really. TTK indicates how much time must elapse, if all your shots land, to kill the target. In close-quarters, pheonix in dumb-fire mode has a MUCH lower TTK than the lancer, simply because its soe asy to miss with it while running. However, at long distance, lancer will pwn the phoe in TTK, due to travel time of the missile.
