Yeah the flail is "mobile artillery," but in a sense its not. If mobile strictly means able to move, then it is, but what about some piece of artillery that infantry can carry? Here's my idea
All of the following would take up both rifle slots or ur entire inventory. Rexos only can carry them. The cert would be 4 cert poitns and called man portable artillery or w/e Mortar not a great range one direct hit kills any infantry other than max slow RoF (maybe the time it takes to fire a bolt driver shot, reload and fire again) Splash damage is ok not nearly as good as a tank shell but still decent Ammo at maybe 50 Takes 5 seconds to deploy/undeploy operator is fully vulnerable at all times would be ideal for bombarding vehicle terminals. radius of lil less than 180 degress (turn radius) Cannon Empire specific cannons: TR have a much faster RoF,NC's cannons do more splash damage, VS have no arc as its a laser like thing (like the magrider) Decent range One hit kill on direct hits Splash damage is alright (better for NC) doesnt suffer a huge arc penalty, except at longer ranges. Requires rexo once agian Must be crouched to wield it Has a full 360 degree radius Takes only 2 seconds to deploy RoF similar to the tank guns. Portable turret Starts as two boxes (one per rifle slot), once deployed springs up into an open turret. Acts as a vehicle, although the soldier is visible, it works like an ATV Very low armor (slightly more than a switchblade) Fires small bullets at a slightly lower RoF than the phalanx turrets Has a reticule that can be toggled for sniping action Has a semi auto and full auto mode CoF is bad going full auto for more than 5 seconds 180 degree turn radius (very slow movements) takes 10 seconds to deploy/undeploy comes with ap and ai ammo Those are some ideas i had while being bored at school today. I was holding my pen like a gun and then thought "hey why not a mobile cannon?" Discuss |

Well the term mobile means the gun can move on it's own without being towed.
Totally off topic. I'd like to see empire specific artillery though. VS- Keeps the Flail it's always been a very VS style weapon. NC- Has cluster artillery that bursts over it's target like the cluster bombs of the liberator. Possibly with a wire guidance system like the Phoniex to allow the operator to determine where it should burst open. TR- A high speed artillery that can be used to deny an area as well as destroy targets. Perhaps once fired it fires off 4 rapid shot salvos sort of in the vein of the Jackhammer's alt fire 4 quick shots. - For all Artillery I'd be great if when deployed your kill zone would be a large green circle like the ones that surround landmines indicating to your empire to get the hell out of the way of incoming artillery. Ahem... yeah so Flails are mobile artillery . |

I like the idea of real artillery. The flail suffers from it's amazingly low arc. Artillery should have a large arc, so it can shoot over stuff. Plus, you should fire at coordinates, not spam. That way, your fire can be corrected on-site by a spotter. The lazer thing is interesting, but it really is very inaccurate. Although, I can see how this would be too powerful, especially if I had a vehicle terminal ranged in. Everytime the enemy swarmed it, my spotter would tell me and then bam, mass kills. Would really suck to be on the receiving end too.
Guess we are stuck with the flail as is.

I like all of them but not the mortar. I don't want to see flying misslies coming into the base and then it'll become the most popular cert cause to get a Flail you need to have the module installed but you could get a mortar anywhere (correct ?).

yah, but u pay a huge price having no other weapons other than a pistol slot. I think it would be overused the first 2 weeks, (as the flail was) but once it settled down it would be balanced IMO
but my main one is the cannon, i REALLY want a cannon. |

no no no not the range from base to base. probably a lil shorter than tower to base. damage is one hit kill if the shell hits perfectly, but it has decent splash damage that more of aggravates the ones caught in it than kills em. depending on how close they are of course.
