I'm sure at one time or another you've seen a fan made video composed of gameplay from your favorite game. Battlefield1942 has a bunch of them and most are well done and though out.
Is it just me or did anyone think to themselves about one themselves. Picture yourself in Planetside slaughtering [insent rival side here] soldiers and vehicles and whatnot. Great stuff to show friends for a laugh or other clan members. Im sure we'll see some great videos from first person view or from 3rd person view in a vehicle. What makes the fan made movies so good is the alternate views from teamates or from enemys. Because each side is so hostile to one another coordinating such an event to make a game movie out of would be quite hard with the whole server fighting on the same planet. Am I just stoopid to even think of making fan made movies for planetisde? What kind of movies do you expect we'll see? How would you go about getting the different angles and perspectives from players for a movie when so much could go wrong with a whole server in war? |

No you're not stupid for thinking this. I'm sure you will see plenty of fan movies for PlanetSide. One HUGE limiting factor though, would be the ability to make demos. If there is no in-game demo capturing, then the amount of PS movies you will see will probably be greatly reduced. If there is demo capturing however, then there will most likely be plenty of fan movies within 2-3 months of release.

I'm thinking movies won't really work in planetside because you can't just organize a bunch of people to go into your own little private server. Also, you never know what the enemy is gonna do or where they are gonna be. The only way to capture good footage would be to have whatever program you are using to capture it going constantly which would cause a lot of video lag...

well, even though the unexpected could happen, ppl could go out to remote areas to film their stunts and acts of hilarity. Also, i think it would be neat to see the unexpected happen and the filming crew repel the assault and continue on with what they were doing.

remote location = home continent...since no enemies can enter it and everyone can automaticaly spawn from there. That would be the perfect place for movie making
*edit*....well at least stunts. Also there shouldnt too many ppl in the way since all the action is on the other continents, plus there might be some cool buildings since it is the home continent Last edited by Mold; 2003-01-27 at 02:49 PM. |
