I've been playing around with empire maxes, and I must say... the Decimator sucks. Seems like everybody and their mother carries them. Maybe there's some clever strategy I don't know of, but the TR max lockdown seems like more of a liability than a benefit. You plant yourself to guard a hallway and you're just asking for a decimator nose job.

When I'm playing my TR alt and I'm using a MAX suit I never lock down unless I know it's safe to do so. I prefer to keep moving. It doesn't really matter what faction your playing or what type of MAX you are using, mobility is the key to survival. If a decimator user comes at you and you have room to maneuver, then try walking at an angle to them. The decimator has a short delay when it is fired and you increase the chances that they will miss you if you're moving. I have a lot of experience with the decimator and even I find it difficult to hit a moving MAX occasionally. Indoors you're not going to increase your survival rate by a lot, but any little thing you can do will help.
Outdoors, practice using auto run to keep your distance away from decimator packing infantry. Unless you are in an AI MAX you shouldn't be that close to infantry to begin with. |

I would rather have more ammo in my inventory decimators take up so much damn space. |

Decimators are an infantry's best chance at taking out a max. AV, unless used with a teammate rarely kills a max inside a tower or base before he can kill you. With the addition of the Uni-MAX cert, you rarely see any action that doesn't involve Maxes. As for the TR Maxes, SmokeJumper has hinted that they might be changing the anchor/unanchor times, which will help the TR maxes some.

The deci is OK, but if you really want MAX ownage join the NC and cert in the Phoenix.
I love pimp slapping a VS MAX from one side, and as he turns to try and see where I am I pimp slap him on the other side. Here is where the VS max trys to fly and gets the thrid and final pimp slap in mid air. Indoors the deci is slightly better... 2 shot kill whereas the phoenix is a 3 shot kill, but outside you can dominate a max so badly it borders on taunting. Sweet revenge on the VS Super MAX Horde (a.k.a the Million MAX March) The striker is also nice for anti-max ability outside, but with it's glitchy lock-on functionality and spastic COF in dumb fire mode it's useless indoors...

Deci needs to be taken down to 350 damage. It would be three shots to kill any MAX at that point, instead of a mostly consistent two.

i think VS maxes need chaffed or at leased an anti-Missile defence. It's kinda sad that you can kill a max with anti-aircraft weaponary, and it's not really flying its hopping. ^^

Yeah but compared to what? Being stuck in one place? Putting up a weak little shield that can absorb one measly decimator rocket?
Jumping saves VS MAXes from instant Reaver spam death, and several decimator rockets if you conserve jump juice, it seems powerful enough as is, and that's looking at it only from a defensive point of view, and not factoring in the added offensive benefits of skipping over choke points or hiding in trees and mountains that are unaccessible to all other ground troops. |
