Ok, I've got the sneaking and stabbing down. I've figured out the AMP ambush. I've hacked my way into towers. Now it's time to work on the recon role.
I see these flails have a pointer. How exactly do they work? Do I have to be Squaded/patlooned with someone for them to see it? Or will just taking one from the machine allow it's user to target. What is the effect of using a pointer stealthed? Semi-visible like a hacker? Also, in the sanctuary I see a pointer. Is that a CR3 only tool? Or can I use to to highlight points of interest for my squad leader? |

well i have used occasionally, and it kinda useful pointing out AMS because once you activate it, every friendly in the area can see this temporary waypoint. And ppl will naturally come and see whats this waypoint popping up on their map is. thus the pointed object get's swarmed.

Target waypoints lased with the Laser Designator are only visible to your sqiad/platoon members. The waypoint will appear with your squad number in the circle of it, as well as be whatever color your squad is in the platoon, for easy identification.
The waypoint will stay for approximately 10-15 seconds, then dissapear. (I never timed it honestly) Very usefil for letting your squad leader know where to smack down a squad waypoint for an enemy ams or what have you, and obviously great for directing flail fire and even bombers.

Lazed waypoints last for 60 seconds, so it is best if the squad leader puts up a permanent WP on top of the laze target if you want to bombard the area for an extended period of time or if you're having trouble dialing in the correct range fast enough. When anybody is targetting with the laze they are clearly visible by a glowing beam of light between them and the target. Infiltrators glow/shimmer when targetting (like when hacking but even a little brighter) and are pretty easy to pick out because all you have to do is you follow the beam of light back to the pulsing cloaker. However, you'd be surprised how long you can stay alive if you can get up onto a base's roof and periodically target enemy AMSed or the vehicle term.

The way I think they should have implemented the Laze is that it would give the Flail operator a target in his HUD at a point in the air that he could put his recticle on. This point would coorespond to the proper elevation and horizontal axis necessary to hit his target dead on.
Just like the Laser pointer from Tribes was used so that the Heavy armor Mortar shots could be aimed |
