AP Rounds

OK, so how do AP rounds actually work VS regular rounds? i know they are more effective VS MAXes. i know they do a signifigant amount less damage to personel than regular rounds(i mean on an individual unarmored). are AP rounds better agains spitfires and other deployables? what about vehicles like mossies? they have virtually no armor, are AP rounds still better? as much detail here as possible please. would be some good info thanx

Yeah, you pretty much have it. Use AP on all vehicles, turrets, max's, equipment terminals, etc.. everything but "soft" targets. They definately have more effect than standard ammo.

AP rounds are for any type of "hard" or heavily armored target. Yes, a mossie has little armor compared to a deliverer or vangard, but it has a hell of a lot more than a reinforced.

Standard, agile, reinforced, and infils should be targeted with standard amunition, everything else is AP.

Yup

AI rounds do X ammount of armor damage, then the rest goes to health:
AP just puts it all to armor damage, and does about half damage to health

Against Infantry for example, the dark purple line shows the how fast you could kill using a Pulsar to first attack armor and then health.

As you can see, it's pretty pointless to use AP rounds on troops.

AP ammo has a couple more restrictions when being used against hard targets.

Maxes, and most vehicles have deflection/negation rating.
Basically a set ammount of damage is completely negated from the total.

Well instead of Cycler rounds doing 18AP damage to a Max, it only does 10AP damage. Where as it does 18AP damage to a Reaver. And probably somewhere down to like 5AP damage to a Tank.

AP rounds are useful for shooting at Airplanes, or polishing off MAXes.
Against Infantry and all other types of vehicles they are near pointless.

Hrmm AI rounds against hard targets.

I'd have to study that

I know AI Cycler rounds do 5AP damage to a MAX, and AP Cycler rounds do 10AP damage

But yeh I'm gonna guess if it's a plane, you'd be better off with AP rounds.

Ah yeh was suprised to find out that Pistols even though they dish out comparable AI damage, do a lot less AP damage.

AP Cycler: 10AP damage on max
AP Repeater: 5AP damage on max
AP Pulsar: 11AP damage on max
AP Beamer: 7AP damage on max

Whats even weirder is that AI cycler does the same AP damage as AP Repeater.
