Well, I don't normally do this but I'd like to see the ES Buggies buffed some more. Just some minor stuff:
All - More speed and acceleration (Edit: and handling) Marauder - More ammo...a lot more...and a bit more damage vs. vehicles Enforcer - A bit bigger splash damage Thresher - More splash damage and slightly bigger orbs. Also a boost in the damage vs. infantry and MAX. Just some thoughts....comments? Last edited by dscytherulez; 2004-02-02 at 05:40 PM. |

Yeah, IMO I think the Enforcer is the best ES buggy but I didn't feel like getting flamed by NC whores by saying "no adjustments needed". But that is a pretty damn big rocket, looks like it should splash like a fat kid doing a cannonball . All buggies could use more speed, acceleration, and climbing power.

Ah yes, forgot to mention handling...that should be slightly buffed also.
The VS orbs go really fast so as it is...they go faster than the Enforcer rocket (last time i checked anyway) but making them faster only makes it harder for the gunner to keep the gun loaded. By making them bigger you can get the same "easier to hit something" effect, but you wont have to sacrifice the amount of times you need to reload. |

Thresher's balls go to slow, but do a good chunk of damage...if you can hit everything. Personally, I think they're all pretty balanced as it is, but if you make those balance adjustments, trade the extra power for speed. I never tried the enforcer's gun too much, so no comments on it.

All buggies need more handling and higher top speed. I wouldn't mind them having more offroad abilities, to be used in places that tanks could get bogged down - to expand their appeal.
I think the Enforcer's weapon system is fine - direct fire, potent rockets are good. The Marauder? I tried it on my TR alt (on Markov) and I didn't find it too bad - the splash is nice. A larger clip maybe, and just a nudge up in damage. I don't have much input with the Thresher, though they always looked fun. |

imo, enforcer's weapon is just fine, (what do you expect for no tech plant?) I would say however that more than anything else it needs a buff in acceleration. With that little armor, clipping a rock in the middle of fighting and coming to a stop is murder. (Marauder needs this as well, + the weapon buffs, thresher already has this )
Have you ever tried jumping off cliffs with the enforcer? that little buggie has some serious shocks, I have jumped clear off not just the searhus crater wall, but off that cliff near enkidu on ish and off the *big* bridge on Cery. All of the above stunts was done completely clear of the wall, without sliding down the side. I did some with half a shield, but never did I take more than 3/4 damage. Captain Carnage needs an enforcer. |

Yeah the enforcer/marauder need more torque, its gun is fine, thoug a bit more projectile speed would be nice.
The thrasher owns me whenever i see it it seems but thats rarely so perhaps some more damage. The Marauder realy kicks ass but i hardly ever see them, i would give it some more armor. I think the mian things is that hardly anyone uses them, due to the Tanks, i would make tanks a 4 cert so the buggies are more appealing

As far as I can tell, all of the buggies are potent when I see/drive them. I agree, however, that they all could use an increase in speed and acceleration; a significant one at that. Vis Armata's suggestion about better off-road abilities is a great idea too, giving the buggies a lot more use. Maybe even giving them a special ability of some sort? I could possibly seeing all the buggies having a sort of passive cloaking that would render it nearly invisible at long-ranges while being completely visible when approaching medium range. Either that, perhaps being somewhat invisible to rader would be cool too. These are just ideas, but I figure they'd help in making the buggies a viable alternative to tanks.
And as a tangent, the one time I really saw buggies being used effectively and en masse was for a covert operation. A couple of months ago, before the Lodestar, there was a pretty big TR/NC battle on Cery. For a few hours there were some pretty massive battles but no real change in territory at all. So I joined a group that got four Marauders and a Skyguard together and put them all in 5 Galaxies. The Gals flew out to sea, turned, entered far into enemy territory, and dropped us off. Since the Marauder seats three, we had plenty of manpower and firepower to harrass and raid enemy positions. And since all the tanks were up in the frontlines, we never had to fight against any serious vehicular attack. We were free to strike ANT runs, module carriers, towers, near-empty bases, stray soldiers, etc. When the main TR force would begin a new offensive, we'd find a neglected tower somewhat close to the battle so friendlies could spawn and use the tower to reinforce the assault. And when we were found, we could just drive off into the forest and repair as necessary. Reavers and Mossies would come and start scouting for us, and that was pretty intense even with the Skyguard in tow. After an hour, we had been whittled down to one Marauder and the Skyguard, but the TR finally managed to break through and secure Cery for a little while. Not sure how much of it was due to our Buggie Squad, but it offered a lot of fun nonetheless. For better of for worse, the Lodestar doesn't make buggies as useful in this regard, since dropping tanks behind enemy line is just as easy and much more effective. Oh well, maybe the developers will give buggies new uses later on. :shrugs:

Man, you guys must not have used the Thresher recently. I myself used it not 30 minutes ago, and DAMN! The handling has been super buffed, just a little flick of the mouse and it turns a lot, I enjoyed using it because I could actually get around Vanguards without getting shot.
The Enforcer is a bit weak, but it makes up for that with it's firepower, maybe some more power in going up hills, haven't used it in a while. Marauder needs a boost, MORE AMMO! Speed is fine, armor is a wee bit on the weak side. |

I don't know about the others but the mara needs a bigger engine you would think it would have a 302 V8 but the damn thing feels like it has a shitty 3.0Liter 4 cylinder chrysler engine. (I'm a mechanic Loves ford hate GM or rice burners)
