Ok, I know there are a lot of people pissed off about this upcoming change so please go post on the official thread I've started to voice your support! If there are enough posts there, the devs will have to pay attention.

http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/p...ML/001550.html

And just for curiosity's sake, I thought I'd start a poll here to track the consensus. The 4th option in the poll was an alternate suggestion brought up on the OF, to allow SA and AV certs a la carte, but also allow them to be purchased in one bundle a-la Uni-MAX.

mmm i dunno about that fourth option.

I mean i welcome the change personally, though I also wish they fix the AV weapons too.

Sa was always a good cert. you get two unique weapons anyway.
With Deci move, the AV cert ppl wil lhave more choice of either getting AV weapons or the one-shot disposable wonders (oh ok, I mean 3 disposable shot wonders)

The change to the Decimator seems so logical that I keep checking the source to make sure it's not a prank.

I love it.

If the devs really kick it up a notch and make AV attractive for all empires, we may actually see some infantry resistance to heavy cavalry instead of all the backpacks in the wake of the tanks. I think the HE mine buff will also steer the destiny of infantry vs. armor battles.

Every patch adds something to the game. It's a testament to the game's appeal that it should have such a relatively docile and content playerbase when a patch is this late.

Still, GOOD GOD PLZ GIVE US THE PATCH.

That is all.

Looks like this "a lot of people pissed off about this upcoming change " is an exaggeration, since the majority of the votes are for the Decimator going to AV.

Where it belongs.

SA is not a viable cert without the decimator, unless they let us know what these mysterious Rocklet and Thumper buffs are all about. If they bump up clip and ammo box sizes to say 10 rounds, then maybe just maybe these weapons will be worth 3 cert points. The problem is, AV weapons are still crap. They need to fix AV, and they need to stop being lazy about their approach to the problem.

Funny, because I and a majority of the people I know with SA got the cert specifically for the Thumper grenade launcher.

Agreed, I cert SA for the Thumper and it is worth the 3 points by itself.

We'll see, there are a lot of angry posts in a bunch of different threads on the OF.

The only people that are going to benefit from this change are NC soldiers who currently have AV and not SA, since they now get the option of carrying a Decimator. Everyone else is stuck with trading their Rocklet & Thumper for a Decimator & a buggy and/or crappy AV weapon.

Don't worry, Jagd, the post-patch environment will be most satisfying. I only ever take Special Assault for Decimator, so to me, this is like getting my empire AV weapon for free. If I were only taking Special Assault for the Thumper, I would probably reevaluate my motives. Not to say Thumper isn't cool, but it doesn't dish out the sheer math that the Decimator does.

I think the devs are on top of it. They've impressed me so often over the course of this game's evolution that I don't generally stress about patches. Other games have not been nearly so reassuring.

As I posted in the other thread, how is 3 cert points for the Bolt Driver fair if 3 cert points for the Thumper and the Rocklet is too much? If 3 is too much for those 2 guns, how is 4 fair for HA? You use SA, you love the Deci, you fear change. Unfortunately for you, it's the right thing to do. I hope they do improve the empire specific AV, but now they have a common pool AV which we all know to be effective.

I have so long considered most of my opponents to be armed with the Decimator that now that it will be bundled with empire AV, I actually don't expect to see it be more common on the battlefield.

Think back to your recent battles, everyone. Don't you recall hearing Decimators about as often as Heavy Assault fire and Sweepers? It seems like that to me.

Like Veteran, the only reason I got SA was for the deci, but with the new change it's like I get another weapon free. I do like the thumper and rocklet, but I rarely use them. If they fix the Striker lock on bug, then I will be a happy man. Deci indoors, Striker outdoors.

MAXs beware! I do hope they give the MAX a little buff tho... I'd like to see MAXs be fearsome indoors, where they deserve to be (except AA MAXs of course).

About time they moved the Decimator to AV. As many have pointed out it should been there a long time ago. No disrespect intended but, those who liked the "all in one" cert, Special Assault now have to make some choices. That is a good thing if ya ask me. This may very well revitalize AV for some Empires because believe it or not there are situations where AV is superior to the Decimator. Revitalized AV could mean a harder time for the vehicle drivers because, one Striker, Lancer, Phoenix is not much of a threat to a tank but five is a different story altogether.
Good move IMO
