Im all TR here and I like my MA for the most part but most VS just dont use their MA right. For instance, the pulsar is great in almost all situations. Its essentially a gauss but has 2 great advantages. A. uses the same rounds for ap as AI. B. larger clip and gnear the same damage. If you use this gun right it can be unbelieveably effective. I dont see many of the VS carrying them around but whenever i manage to get one i always at least get 4 kills before i die in almost all situations.
Thoughts? Disagreements? Flames? Agreements? |

I've started carrying it as a back-up rifle when I snipe from base walls, to help kill those guys that get up close to the wall. It's also not bad for defending against people that charge my position when I'm sniping from a hillside. A few times I've assaulted towers with it with nice results. It's severely out-classed by MCG spray, but I've managed to nail some JH surgiles. I've chased off a few light vehicles too from tower roof-tops using AP mode. They get pissed with the endless nickle-and-diming.
I would like to try an all-pulsar squad for taking on maxes/tanks/reavers. 10 guys all nickle-and-diming can add up to some dollar bills. Throw a few advanced medics and thumpers in there and you might have some real versatility. |

Heres the reason why most VS don't use Pulsar:
www.greyfalcon.net/pulsardeg.gif (Damage over Range) Damage degradation is just too steep at range, and at closer range you'd rather have a HA anyways. If they changed it to be like this, for instance: www.greyfalcon.net/balancepulsar.gif Then you'd see plenty of people using it.

The Pulsar is not nearly as effective as the Gauss. You can't compare them like that. Now I'm not saying buff the Pulsar, it is good for what it needs to do, which is do some damage at medium range, but it just isn't as effective as the Gauss or Cycler. Sure, its big advantage is that you can easily switch between normal and AP rounds...but those AP rounds can't deliver a good amount of damage to armored targets. Indoors, you might as well be using a beamer, Pulsar's specialty isn't indoor battles, that's for sure.

Yeah, the Pulsar's ability to switch from AI to AP would be great if the AP rounds were actually effective. I've messed around with the Pulsar, and I found that it's actually a pretty good weapon. But it does, unfortunately, pale in comparison to the Gauss and Cycler.
