If you would like to see a game based off of Planetside, what genre would it be? and what would it be about?
Id personally like to see a Planetside RTS game, or a Single Player shooter you in the shoes of a Terran cause im tired for FPS people fighting for freedom or some other high purpose or a really big gun for which they must travel and collect 7 mystic items only to realize you were betrayed by your best friend then you kill him...the end. No i want a game where you are a Terran taking down NC and Vanu left and right. It would be a squad based shooter not a one man army type deal. It would even have a cool mini game where you play a Vanu that likes to bitch about other empire's weapons and the bitchiest VS wins. I havent left the NC out either, they would have a cool game where every single time they fire the jackhammer they instantly die. Yes im an NC but i hate my own NC brethern cause they are stupid. So thats about it for my idea, whats yours? |

I'd like to see a large in-game financial shell in which you could observe any player and make real-time bets on their success. A dedicated team would be on constant guard for collusion, cheating, etc.
Real money is already mixing with these games and internet poker is immense. What else could convince people to work together than the promise of booty? Yarr.

Anyways, back to the thread topic.
I would like to see a game this is sorta like MechWarrior that insitead you are based with tanks and you pick a side and what not and the tanks are in large large scale and you command your own and you move up the ranks as a tank platoon commander. That would be sweeet.

a RTS would be sweet, If there was a RTS Mod for Planetside that would be great. If someone could mod Starcraft. Id rather have a starcraft PS mod rather than a RTS game using a 3d engine like C&C: Generals. Something about Starcraft's graphics are appealing to me

TA is easily modable, it IMO is better to mod than SC becsaue its basicaly free now, and the way the game is set up it make more sence (you can hack enemy vechs and everything too)

I'd like something like planetside, but with no factions, only 3 alien races, and then player-controlled unions (read: outfits) are the groups that can fight or build alliances as they see fit. There would be a deep economic and levelling system, so you could start out as a medic with basic healing skills, but eventually become a surgeon with beefed up skills and income. Engineers, likewise, could learn to customise their equipment and vehicles, and hackers would get more and more sophisticated abilities.
Instead of continents, there would be planets with different types of facilities on them, and your union could pick a spot to call their own by capturing a base. After holding it for 15 minutes the base is "locked" for the next 30 minutes so they can regroup and try to capture a connected base. If you secure the next base, all of your connected facilities get another 15 minutes of "lock" time allowing you to plow ahead a little longer. The thing is, if you don't use the time to make headway, your bases start coming "unlocked" making them targets to other unions, so then you have to start splitting your troops between defense and offense, or just prioritizing what base is the most important. I would also like the bases to have different roles, like a Tech Lab, resource gathering facilities (like a water plant, or titanium mine). The long you hold a base, the more of that resource/research your union would pile up, which in turn would translate to better defense technologies, like the ability to spawn at any linked facility, or access better vehicles, etc. So basically your goal is to capture a few facilities and hold them until you build your tech level up to make managing a larger empire feasible, and then go from there. As things went along, the tech levels would allow your union members to spawn across even multiple planets, so the powerful unions could eventually spread out to hold territory on multiple planets, and are in a perpetual state of trying to keep these facilities to grow their power, while the smaller unions need to take something to bring their technology up. Yeah, so it's pretty much like PS but with a whole new level of strategy and tactics brought into the mix. Oh yes, and there would also be a "homeworld" type of place that is totally neutral. So when you create your character your in a type of "sanctuary" where other players hang out as well, and you can sign up for a union, trade equipment, learn new weapon/equipment skills, etc. It is once you venture off into the solar system where it becomes PVP with vehicles and facilities and everything. The key to the game would also be allowing a deep customization system for weapons and equipment, so if you're an engineer you'd also have to pick up an assault rifle skill, and then say a laser-rangefinder skill, before you could modify your M-16 to incorporate it. Same thing with vehicles, make it like Mechwarrior where they have a pretty flexible system based on the weight of different equipment that you can fit on a chassis. So you would start with like a 4-wheel buggy and could add rocket turrets by putting in a smaller engine, etc. Rambling enough for you? Hehe, I got all excited once I started typing about it. |
