My friend is getting his 9800pro and an extra 512 ram for a total of gig this week to go with his 2.6ghz processor. But he knows nothing about installing upgrades so he asked me to do it for him.
The problem is, I don't know a whole lot either. All I've ever done his snap in an extra stick of RAM on my laptop. I'm assuming RAM works the same way on a desktop, just snap it in and it recognizes it? Or is there more to it? I don't think a video card will be too much trouble either, but is there anything I should know about installing a 9800pro? I think you have to connect it to the power supply and hard drive? What about drivers? I think the manual has a guide on how to install it, but I'd appreciate any tips you guys could give me. Thanks. StrikerTek Planetside KAAOS |

ok, the ram is the same as laptop, its plug and play, just a bit harder to physically get in there.
As for the card. Make sure u put it in the right spot on the motherboard. chances are there is only one that will work, and connect the power cord. Im not sure what u mean by harddrive? As for drivers, you should go to the ati website and download the latest catalyst drivers 4.2 If u have windows xp it should recognize enough to let you get to the internet. |
