This qoute is from the thread called "WWIIOL Players Called Dev A Noob" or whatever it was called...
"Command structure - Any former WW2OL player knows that WW2OL does not have a built in command structure. Any command structure in WW2OL unofficial, and is not part of the game, so this will be unique to planetside. The closest thing to a command structure I've ever seen in a MMOG is in Shattered Galaxy's political structure"

Maybe a little off topic here, but I think we all know that the command structure in PS is going to fail just like it has in WWII Online.

You aren't going to be able to make anyone do anything that they don't want to. And being as how the 3 factions in this game can NEVER win the map there will be very little team loyalty and therefor few if any players are going to stop what ever it is they are doing to go off to perform whatever duty you need filled (which would have to be one of the least fun positions because it would have already of been occupied otherwise [take bunker duty that used to be required in WWII Online as an example, although you could find volunteers mainly because of the deep routed loyalty that most people took in their particular Country]).

And now Im going way off topic here, but that country loyalty in WWII Online produced a fair amount of greifers which may mean that PS may experience less griefers than WWIIOL. But then with that said you have to take into account the avg. age of the players of both games and if I remember correctly the avg. age of a WWII Online player was about 25. While PS which is more of a "Quake style" game will draw more of the 18 and under crowd which means more griefing so the two games may just get the same amount... Hmm.

And on to another topic...

Now, Im not an expert on the different armor/character classes in PS but, it does seem as though the...

Holy ****! lol CNN just showed a Teletubby ****ting out a triangle. lol

Cruiser...one of the details you may have missed is *how* folks become Commanders in this game.
Firstly, you can't get CEP if you don't actually command a squad when they cap a building.

Sounds innocent on the surface, but if you think about that a bit, it means that people have to have VOLUNTARILY followed this would-be commander MANY, MANY times before he has rank enough to get to 4- or 5-star command.

Therefore, s/he *will* be well-known by that time...and most likely respected...or else people would never have followed him/her long enough for that commander to get the rank necessary.

Awkward sentence there, but do you see?

To be a commander in PlanetSide, you must be a reasonable human being with the ability to have *some* tact and grace so that people don't hate you and refuse to follow you. If you can get folks to follow you a bunch of times, and are successful, people will be willing to follow you again later.

Or so is the theory. Thoughts?

I think the theory is sound. I also think it will succeed and fail many times on every server. When everything is clicking it will be a sight to behold and when nothing is going right, a comedy of ass-beatings.
