Both UT2004 and BF:Vietnam will be out on the same here are both press releases for each game.
UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2004 GOES GOLD Epic Games Completes Development on Highly Anticipated Multiplayer Opus; Game Will Be Available Worldwide March 15 LOS ANGELES - March 4, 2004 - Atari and Epic Games are pleased to announce that development is complete on Unreal Tournament 2004, the highly anticipated follow-up to last year's smash Unreal Tournament 2003 and the third installment in the mega-selling Unreal Tournament franchise. The game is expected to be available at retail stores worldwide on March 15. "Get ready, PC gamers, because the biggest thing to ever hit multiplayer gaming is about to land on your hard drives!," said Peter Wyse, executive producer at Atari. "The granddaddy of all multiplayer competition is back and better than ever! The extra time was worth the wait - Epic has produced the biggest, baddest, and most exciting multiplayer title ever to grace the PC." Unreal Tournament 2004 was developed by Epic Games in conjunction with Digital Extremes. The game builds on the success of past installments, taking the franchise to the next level with the introduction of the hyper-charged Onslaught mode, the return of the fan-favorite Assault mode, which last appeared in the original Unreal Tournament, and the introduction of land-, air- and space-based vehicles. Gamers worldwide have already made the free, downloadable official demo of Unreal Tournament 2004 one of the most popular game demo downloads of all time, with more than 1.5 million downloads in the first week of availability. The demo first hit the Internet on Wednesday, February 11, and was distributed on a worldwide scale and is already one of the most played online PC games on the Internet. In the game, players suit up as the ultimate techno-gladiator of the future, taking their fates into their own hands as they battle up to 32 other players in action-packed, frag-filled arenas. Unreal Tournament 2004 contains new maps for all established game modes, including Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Bombing Run and Double Domination, as well as all new arenas for the new styles of play. In addition, Unreal Tournament 2004 contains all of the maps, mutators and game types -- such as Mutant, Last Man Standing and Invasion -- from Unreal Tournament 2003 and the free downloadable bonus packs for that game. for Battlefield:Vietnam EA is pleased to announce that Battlefield Vietnam has officially gone gold for the PC. The game is set to ship nationwide to retailers under the EA GAMES brand on Monday, March 15. The Battlefield franchise is entering a new era with more firepower and beautiful yet ferocious new combat settings. Offering an arsenal of weapons and vehicles authentic to the Vietnam conflict, players will battle in first-person perspective. Staying true to the over-the-top, action-packed multiplayer style that gave Battlefield 1942 its critical and commercial success, Battlefield Vietnam will drop players into some of the Vietnam War's fiercest battles. Fighting in theatres from jungles surrounding the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the city streets of Hue, players will choose from two well-equipped forces, the United States or the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and Vietcong. All of this action will be accompanied by the sounds of an authentic Vietnam era soundtrack to immerse the player into an experience similar to that of a Hollywood film. |

Not only does UT2k4 rock, but imagine the mods that will get made.
Also, if you know someone who plans on using an aimbot in UT2k4, killing him is a misdemeanor.

Another UT game and another Battlefield game?!? And they went Gold?!? You mean people will keep eating the same crap they've been fed for years, and pay good money to do it!?!? WOW!
Sorry about that. "No shit, sherlock" just didn't seem to fit.

Secondly, I agree with you on BF:V (im so tired of Nazis, no more, ever) but UT2K4 is a different game entirely. Its simply the craziest gaming experience ever. The returning Assault mode is 100000000x better than before, and the Onslaught, is like Tribes1 without jetpacks (anyone who says tribes1 was bad is "Ban" worthy). The vechs. are awesome, and the physics are still that UT2K3 love. If you havent played the demo, you are not allowed to speak of it. Ever. WOW! indeed my friend. WOW indeed.

I was always under the impression going "Gold" meant a certain number of preorders since saying something went "gold" because it's in the process of packing and shipping is, well, fucking dumb. Reguardless, this has nothing to do with my earlier post, since the post is directed more at the rehashing of games that did well in the past as opposed to coming up with new things.
Anyways, I hate UT, I've always hated UT and I always will hate UT. Jumping around like a fucking monkey should not be a viable tactic, not so much because it shouldn't work (although it probably shouldn't) but because it's really really stupid. UT was amusing at LAN parties, I'll grant you that, but that was more because of the total lack of copy protection then from any true joy that came from playing it. Saying it's like Tribes without the jetpacks makes no sense, since without the jetpacks Tribes would have been just another FPS game, and probably a rather shitty one at that now that I think about it. The defining feature of Tribes, as far as gameplay goes, was the mobility players had. It's what seperated it from any other FPS games. I mean, hell, the nerf to skiing in Tribes 2 (which was really wasn't much of a nerf if you knew what you were doing btw) is what turned a lot of people off to the game.
