Basically because keeping the capitol requires defense of the sub-capitols, the proposed idea is to allow spawns to any sub-capitol from the capitol, and spawns to the capitol from any sub-capitol.
I personally don't feel this is necessary. Careful management of your manual bind should be sufficient - i.e. leave it like it is. When the force dome goes up, you have no need to defend the capitol. Basically the force should either split and defend a pair of sub-capitols or concentrate on a single pair. In either case, the troop would manually bind at one sub-cap - and defend and be the SOI of the other. That should be sufficent for a reasonable response to an attack of either. While it might be nice to be able to aways have the capitol available as a spawn point in case you loose gens and need vehicle reinforcement, being able to spawn at any of the sub-capitols seems like overkill to me. I think this would make it extremtly hard for an attacking force to be able to make much progress if the zerg has the freedom to instantly move to any of the 4 sub-capitols. |

Everyone should be able to respawn to the Capitol on the continent if their faction controls it. This should be an additional new spawn catigory, Continental Capitol. The capitol represents your power on the continent and thus, it should be the rally point for reactionary forces in case some of the warpgate border bases are captured.

Just use Instant Action (which 9/10 times seems to actually work now)
I'm in two minds. The first is that it would be cool to be able to respawn at any of the subcapitols from the capitol as it gives more meaning to have them, and makes the sub capitol buildings more important in themselves. The other is that they shouldn't and is based on two things. The first is the difficulty in taking down 3 of the subcapitols already. I attended the first capitol buildings playtest and am TR, and the difficulty we had was getting over the cliffs to the subcapitols to the east (most of us HARTed down to Oro to check out the cool new shield) and was not a problem of defending the bases themselves. I doubt this would be such a problem on any other continent with the exception of perhaps Ceryshen. The second was the point Rayder brought up but in a slightly different way. You could get routers deployed from within the Capitol building, to teleport to one of the subcapitols. I'm not sure if they reach those sorts of ranges, but it would be the defensive side to using a router as opposed to Rayder's worry about them being used offensively. Of course the drawback is the enemy can then use your router to get within your capitol building.... hmm exploit potential or calculated risk. |
