The one gig of ram results!

Well today i got my gig of ram 2 sticks of DDR400 wich regretfully has to ruin at a maximum of DDR266 speeds, luckily however i was able to get the cas settings dow to 2.0! and i'm in the process of lowering the other Latencies as well.

Anyway i recorded some PS fps at different times
(before, with the new Nvidia drivers witch lowered my FPS alot but boosted IQ enough to be worth it)
30-50 in sanc
20-35 in small squad battle
20-30 in mild zerg
5-20 in uberzerg

Now i get
30-50
20-40
20-35
10-25

not much of an increase is it but there is one thing that stood out, the door loading was gone, conts loaded relativly quickly and the slowdows do to pingspikes wer substantialy less. I now have no problems with the FPS rate i get in this game, even the 15-20 fps that i get are perfectly playable.

Anyway if you don't have a gig, or don't have two sticks to dual channel with i REALY recomend getting a matched stick to the one you have or a new set.

what's overclocking, and I thought you were helpin me.
BTW that's great man you could do pretty well in an uber zerg. My friend has a super computer with 2 terabytes of memory= no problems in-game evar.

I presume you mean 2TB of RAM, right?

BS

No motherboards currently support that, and the maximum capacity for RAM modules currently is 2 gb, he would have to have 100 of those, which no motherboard can take.

I presume you mean hard drive space, 10 200gb drives (or 8 250gb drives) is plausable, but not much room for anything else (Unless he has 2 psu's).

Yes I did.

Unfortunately, any "super computer" would not even be able to play games.
They have a completely different architecture to a normal computer, and run custom operating systems, not capable of running games.

Go look in the mirror little boy, you have gullible written on your forehead.

So what does he use the supercomputer for?

Edit - Actual contribution to the thread.

Rbstr, have your load times decreased? Judging by your system, you should be getting better performence!

What res/graphics detail do you run at?

Somethings wrong then.

I'm running on -

Atlon 2800+
1gb DDR PC2700
Radeon 9600XT

Pretty much simular to your system. Now, I run at 1280x1024, medium details (with Flora turned off) and I get (in same FPS orders you used)

80-120 in sanc
35-60 in small squad battle
20-30 in mild zerg
15-25 in uberzerg

Well there is one MAJOR difference i have a celleron, with a 400mhz fsb, it is crappy in all possible ways, if i had a 2.4ghz P4 i would be getting similar results

EDIT: Also i have some drivers for my 5600 that are leaked from nvidia they do wonders for Image Quality fixeing the Purple splotch thing in the spawntubes even, and that made my Max FPS go way down, from maxes of 103 to the 50ish i have in sanc, but the bottom end went up a bit.

I have an Athlon with an fsb speed of 333mhz and a total clock speed of 2.2ghz, your point is?

Edit - I was going to say, that maybe it's to do with the cache size on your cpu, but in fact, it's pretty much the same as mine.

yes but yours is doubled mine is quaded, so its realy 100, yours is different, and yours has a full 512 cache yours offers performance similarity with a 2.6ghz/2.8ghz P4 Northwood 'c', mine would be something like a 1800+

Start a seperate thread about overclocking.

This thread is about rbstrs results from upgrading to 1gb of RAM, and you didn't answer my last question.
