1. Squeeky banned. Whoa. That's major, but I can see the justification.
2. PSU is NOT the nice, happy community it began as, nor is it the community Hamma has envisoned. Selections from threads on the first page (not necessarily related or from the same thread):
Newbies get a lot of flame, esp. if their tastes differ. (RasslinInc comes to mind.) He liked pro wrestling. SO WHAT? Of COURSE he's going to get pissed off and start keyboard mashing, YOU STARTED IT! 3. The most serious case, in my opinion: Pol Debate forums made contributor-only. PSU needs money. I cannot deny that. PSU is expensive. I cannot deny that. Having to raise $3000 to keep a site running is a lot of dough. However, I think (and please, Hamma, prove me wrong here)that we are beginning the 'FilePlanet shuffle'- begin squeezing features from the non-paying public until pretty much everything is pay-only. Guys, we all need to pitch in. The only reason I haven't is lack of a credit card. Unless we all don't, we could see a Tech Forum (Contrib-only), a Fan Fiction Forum (Contrib-only), and PLEASE Hamma prove me wrong here, a The Lounge (Contrib-only.) Is the end near? I hope not. But we are certainly closer to it than ever before.

the end is definitely not near. Squeeky brought it past the line, end of story. it seems a lot of the community is in a period of RL stress and such most likely. Though I could be wrong, the whole thing could be degrading. Although I would liek to say it is certainly not near the end. Perhaps just a recession.

It's fucking Black Tuesday over here, life-wise. I'm not in a recession, I'm in the Great Depression (financially and life-wise speaking, not Linkin'-Park emotionally speaking).
Lots of trouble I'd prefer to keep to myself.

Just slow down. It's all good, right? Except your sig. Fix it, it's stretching the template.

1. Squeeky has needed a wake-up call for a while now. He changed over the last year, and not in a good way.
2. While maybe not as nice as it once was, this is what happens when a community grows. I think the flaming is really just a test. If you're interested enough in joining the community, youll realize there are a few asses before you get to the nice people. While not a good thing, this does not spell the apocalypse. 3. The Pol debate forum is an area that most of PSU dosent use. I've never been in there myself, and I can name several others whom haven't either. It still costs bandwith for that forum to be up, even if a small percentage of the community uses it. I think that in order to keep that part of the site alive, and prove to Hamma that its worth keeping is to donate some money. If we dont raise enough money, its areas like that and the hot girls forum that will be leaving first. PSU has evolved over the last year and 1/2. Some ways good, some bad. This is a critical time for PSU. There are a lot of changes happening that Hamma has little to no control over. |
