I originally played Planetside for a few months after Launch. I liked it but other MMORPG's pulled me away (EVE, City of Heroes). I always liked Planetside since essentially you could jump in and get in a battle at just about any time of the day.
I left Planetside for EVE, which has since gotten boring for me as it's almost nothing but constant mining and there's just way too much time you need to dedicate to it to really get anywhere. I then got into the City of Heroes Beta and played it up until launch. It was good, but the content in the game was not worth the price they were going to be charging. I'm now a player without a home and I've been thinking about resubscribing to PS. I have a couple of sets of questions though. 1) I left about a month before Core Combat was introduced. Is this necessary to play the game? Should I get this expansion or is it riddled with bugs as I have heard? 2) There is talk on the main PS forums that there is going to be a free week of play around the time of the anniversary. Any details on this yet? oh yeah...my old outfit was NERV of the Terran Republic Last edited by ThunderGawd; 2004-05-09 at 05:59 AM. |

1)Core Combat isn't required no. You just get access to a few more weapons and vehicles (if the base is connected to or has an equipment/vehicle module). And it also allows you to fight in the caves which are rarely used.
2)I believe next week all Planetside accounts will be re-activated to celebrate the one year anniversary of Planetside. At least, I think it's next week. |

Dont be mislead. Lartnev is wrong about the caves being rarly used. Caves are now very important stratigic links to the surface. With these links you can back hack an enemy base or gain use of all the modules. CR5s regularly call for people to go to the caverns as a secondary objective for the empire.

1) it is not nessisary but the caves are very fun places to go for a change from the normal battles, thre is only one bug in the caves and that is that some people sometimes get a bug were the Buildings don't load, but it's normaly solved if you quit and do a full scan and come back in. the Caverns never get big zerg battles but you do get some very fun squad v squad type action.
2) i think sits the week of the 16th but i may be mistaken

YAY. For a while we had several 'I'm leaving PS' Topics, all for reasons that really didn't make sense.
I suggest you get in to an outfit that is really active, or your PS experience won't be too good anymore. 1) CC isn't required, but it IS fun to mess around in if you just want to mess around. It is mostly resigned to small squad battles (good for those who lag a lot), but I have seen battle with several platoons to a side. 2) Yes they are having a reactiation of PS accounts for ANYONE who has EVER played PS. I'm not sure when, though. I DO know SOE is planning several massive battles on all the servers with the expected doubling of the server pops. |
