Hey all I was just wondering if any of you have heard of the band Dream Theater. They're a really great (imo) rock band, and all of their albums are really creative. The thing I love most about them is how they stray away from "classic" rock and take a much more theoretical basis to their music. A lot of their music consists of what is called "Indeterminacey" or chance music. That is, it's written in general terms and they will play around with it and create totally different sounds everytime it's played. Not all of it is like that, though. They have some really great tunes and if any of you are interested in checking them out I'd recommend the following Albumns (although all of them are great):
Images and Words Scenes From A Memory (HFS this album owns. Keep in mind the whole album is one story) Six Degree's Of Inner Turbulence Train of Thought To all of you who know the band, what do you think of them?

Why? The words or how the guy sings? Must be a taste thing if you don't like his voice, but I could see that. A lot of people don't like James LaBrie (the vocalist), but I think his voice has an incredible range.
Don't know how you could not like the words though.

For a prog-metal band they rock. But what happens when you take the world's greatest drummer and put him with the world's greatest guitarist and the world's greatest bassist?
They are forced to outdo themselves every time. And it begins to become over the top. This should have been a once-in-a-career deal, like Symphony and Metallica. Or Jaws. |

Ok eXo thats cool. Just wondering. I know a lot of people don't like how he sings. It's all good.
Xmodum, I will nevar stop smoking! And I have to leave this weekend so no more PS for a month Firefly, too true. I sense that they will burn out in the next two albums. It's sad really, but they have such great musicianship that they'll never be satisfied with their latest work until they all die from over-exertion, lol. Martyr I'd suggest listening to a couple of their songs. Some can be very strange and funky, though, so I warn you!
