R.I.P Counter Strike 1.5

Starting July 26th, the shutdown of the WON authentication servers will begin. This process will be completed on July 31st. This means players will no longer be able to access Internet features of Valve games, such as Counter-Strike 1.5, using the WON authentication servers. Users can continue using Valve games on the Steam service by downloading the Steam installer and setting up a Steam account. For more information visit www.steampowered.com. Counter-Strike 1.5 players will be upgraded to Counter-Strike 1.6 free of charge through Steam.

have you seen how much ram steam uses? 15mb... and to me thats alot, that would explain the decrease in performance...

That sucks so much since Steam won't take my legit CD key so then I won't be able to play any of their games.

CS takes more skill thank PS (Shooting wise) However shockinly enough PS takes alot more thought. This is why CS should die. Anyone with 10 hours a day can become a cs god. Not so with PS, as the requittable equipment can be lacking.

CS will not die with WON you fool. Steam is the majority now.Won has been in minority for a year.

bah, haters abound! CS was great and hopefully will be great again on the source engine. but this doesnt surprise me, infact I'm more surprised that the WON servers have stayed up this long.

CS will dominate again on the new source, but in its current state I can barely play it for 10 minutes. it has one of the worst online communities Ive ever seen. it reminds me of those Egyptian bazaars in Indiana Jones movies...if someone cheats you, stabs you, and pisses on your face, and no one cares. especcially unsupervised servers.
