i really would like to see some things from warhammer 40k implemented into plantside.
we already have a form of terminator armor(max)/power armor(rexo with combat boost), but there are a few things i would like to see.... seige tanks/artillery. think baslisk or demolisher. basilisk is a tank with a huge artillery gun mounted on it, and the demolisher has a short ranged very powerful seige gun. possilby even an artillery piece that is towed or droped in, or things like mortars. shelling should be innacurate, though. MORE GRAV TANKS! i would like to see some in-between of max armor and rexo armor... MORE WEAPONS! i want a bolter, bolt pistol, meltagun, duel weild pistols/light smgs for those who dont know, bolt weapons are very large rapid fire guns that fire small self propelled caseless mini rockets. meltaguns fire a superheated blast that turns tanks into burnt wrecks at closer ranges. Swords, for high brs or cr5s. More city areas, and ruined cities! i think they have titans semi covered. in 40k, titans are huge walkers, would be about 2 times the size of a tower, or more. one type of imperial walker has a large cathedral on it large dropships that can carry 2 vehicles and more infantry, and are more heavily armed than galaxies. if there is going to be more tanks, there needs to be more anti tank weaponry. some of the best anti tank weaponry in 40k are short ranged, meltaguns, at shorter ranges, are more powerful against vehicles. their power dispates fast with range. meltabombs are charges that are placed on a vehicle with the same affect as the gun. only engineers should get this. find out more about warhammer 40k at www.gamesworkshop.com or www.portent.net. random stuff.... i would love to see something like the drop troops from infantry put in this game. jetpacks and small grenade launchers.... mmmm. restrictions like only useable in agile. splinter cell action for cloakers... i want to see neutralizing and neck snapping. more later, im calling it a night.

EDIT: Remember, although PS is set in the future, it does go for "realism". Tanks have to be supported by Infantry, aircraft provide air cover and does ground strafing, etc. Last edited by ChewyLSB; 2004-07-20 at 01:33 AM. |

Artillery = Flail
The equivalent of what you're talking about considering artillery is like taking the pains of having to fight under flail bombardment, and multipying it 10 fold. No no, artillery does not work in PS, the Flail is barely acceptable as it is. More weapons? Dear lord, I already have trouble customizing my loadout, and only recently I have made one that I could call my main one. No no, new weapons are not needed, they would only clutter the game, like the spiker, or the Lodester. Swords would destroy the feeling of the game. BFRs already stretch that feeling. Larger dropships, sure why not? Sounds good, sounds USEFUL. Cities? Hell yea, but new bases are already being developed so I'm not sure. Grav Tanks? Only for the Vanu, the other Empires don't deserve them yet =D Splinter cell like action? Can you say lag? The engine that Planetside runs on would have to be modified and would take too many resources for the devs to spend time on it. I don't think Planetside needs a page from WarHammer, I think it only needs broken phrases. I'm pretty sure Sony would infringe on some copyrights in place by the creators of WarHammer 40K. |

the good ideas in there r cities and exactly bases r gettin revamped i agree more weapons but not more explosive spamming from rocklet and thumper type weapons and yes the infil needs to be more like a spy but i dont think being cloaked and hanging onto the roof and dropping on an enemy as they come into the CC after u ghost hack really gonna be good maybe give the infils a pistol which only ppl with the infil cert can use it has a type of suppressor that cuts the noise it makes down and it does good damage yes i think we do need more heavy vehicles something like a lightning that u get with Light Scout cert...maybe even empire specific lightning REXO is like a friggan MAX if u got Personal Sheild and engineering/medical swords...pft lets not have this game turned into melee combat for all the CR5s 2 times the size of a tower...we already got BFR's on the way which r 20 dam metres y do we need something which is like 150 metres i like the metal bombs idea...would be very good with infils something like the C4 explosive on the Special Ops guy in Desert Combat. Maybe not something as powerful as a boomer since they pwn vehicles like flails enough jet packs would be insane u already noe how annoying Comets r ontop of the buildings what do u want Phoenixs, Stikers, Lancer and Decimators camping in trees for unsuspecting MAX's/Aircraft/vehicles would also be insanely good for infils and snipers since they would be able to get anywhere a VS MAX can Last edited by Sploogey; 2004-07-20 at 04:49 AM. |

Artillery could work if it was immobile when firing, and they were weak. it should also be very innacurate, but imagine the uses if base walls were destructable, and some fortresses required wall destruction to get in then, once the base is captured, you use NTUs to repair the walls. im not saying you need titans. titans would require an insane amount of gunners, ect. would be cool, but impracticle. im thinking about giving cr5s swords as a symbol of office. somewhat like officers in the civil war, ect. just a bit better than a knife. if there were jump pack troops, than they would have limited weaponry. ma, some sa, and longer ranged thumpers. no ha, snipers, ect. You can only pilot one in agile armor. that wouldnt be too unbalancing. make the superheavy for vanu a grav tank, but smaller, faster and cheaper. dropships have 10 infantry slots. maxes count as taking up two slots. make atvs more viable for combat and let 2-4 be loaded into a loadstar or dropship. oi! big shootas! mo' dakka!

Yes to more weapons. Maybe a half decent smg (think mp5, but im not sure how that could work without head shots)
An explosive that sticks to vehicles would be sweet, with maybe even a secondary mode that allows you to booby-trap enemy vehicles (ie they dont activate until someone gets in) or better yet booby-trap your own AMS so the next cloaker that thinks hes cute and hax you AMS... . Large dropships? The gal is big enuff for me but something larger may be cool. Ruined cities would be cool, but they dont really fit into the storyline of PS. And lastly, Jetpacks?!? what is this tribes? |

I'd like to see one use jetpacks (That don't recharge, you need to get a new one after it runs out) that make you move very fast, and very high, but only last for about 5 seconds, mainly to be used to jet to the top of a tower quickly or hop over walls. Only useable by Agile, require their own cert (Maybe this would be a good 1 cert point cert).
You wouldn't be able to have a gun out while using it either (Hard to control a jetpack with a rifle in your hand) |

I somewhat agree to this... I hmmm my p key isn't working very well i had the get that one out of symbol search.... anyhow i Play a light infantry rebel imperial guard army in 40k. One of the reasons i have modeled my army after the freedom guard in the 1997 game dark reign is because i don't like anything thats imperial. The whole idea of titans with massive cathedrals is retarded i just like playing human or Tau i like Tau. however i do like the idea of having power swords or something like that or weilding dual pistols. One thing that would be awesome is some kind of melta gun or a flamethrower even though meltas are sweet. Any way enough rantings artillery doesn't work in planetside because though it would work in real life this isn't real life first of all the targeting would be wack and its just a guess here but most people don't know how to triangulate artilllery coordinates so it would just be way too accurate. Another thing is you only call the artillery up for enemy threats of over 500 people. It would just be overkill to try to arty out a 10 man squad. And though i like the idea of a large thunderhawk dropship/gunship thingie the fact that you can only have 167 people from your empire on a continent would just make having a ship that can carry 20 people too big.
{edit}: I'm not sure how to quote someone but to Chewy who said this: No! Just... no! Dual wielding any gun in real life is absolutely stupid and should never be done. The recoil from the guns makes dual wielding impossible. The way that the characters in PS hold pistols is the correct way, with both hands. I'm not sure if you've ever shot a pistol but i do a lot of shooting at my local gun club and first you don't how a pistol with two hands if you did you would most likely break your thumb when the slide whips back to eject the cartridge. And you can duel weild it would just tire your arms out but i know guys who can acurately shoot with two 45's and those are heavy guns. |
