I'm Getting Sick Of This

I don't know when I made that thread telling you guys about the problems I'm having with my work computer. Spyware, adware, but most importantly, a co-worker who looks at pr0n.

Every day for about a week, I checked the internet history first thing when I got to work, and every day I would see about 20 pages from CollegeHumor.com that were search results for the words "sex", "fucking", and "pussy", just to name a few. I asked you all for advice on how to tackle this subject with "Bill" without running to my boss, but alas.

Yesterday I came into work and checked the internet history as per usual. And as per usual, there was shitloads of porn (that girl Trishelle from the Real World: Las Vegas has nice boobs, in case you wondered). Well, fuck that.

My boss came in and I said, "Mike, we've got a situation. I didn't want to say anything, but I'm getting uncomfortable by it, so I just wanted to let you know that this computer is being used for inappropriate non-work things." and he goes, "Well you and 'Bill' are the only ones who use that computer!" and I told him I was aware of that. He says, "What have you been finding?" and I told him what I found. He was like, "Oh, 'Bill' goes on that site all the time to play games, are you sure that wasn't it?" and I go, "Oh I found the games. Mixed in with the pr0n."

So Mike said that he would have a talk with "Bill" yesterday and say something like the computer has been getting a lot of porn pop-ups and could he make sure to only go to work-related or safe non-work related sites. I don't know the outcome of this conversation but here is what I do know.

I got to work today and there is more pr0n. I am absolutely sick of it.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Ideas?

Give it a day or two. Maybe the boss hasn't had a chance to talk to Bill yet. If it keeps happening mention to Bill that you found out about it and that the boss is able to check it out. Don't do something that will get Bill fired right away. You say that you are sick of it, but at the same time you haven't metionned anythign to Bill so he probably doesn't know that you have a problem with it.

Well... you could go nazi and upload kabillions of viruses to the thing and blame it on the pr0n surfer (lets face it- pr0n sites are death traps). Or you could change the network settigns around and fuxxor his ability to access the sites with that type of content... (I had to do something like that to get PSU at work).

That's the thing my boss asked me to do - change the settings to block the site.

But I humble my 1337 self when I ask you guys - how exactly do I go about blocking one site?

EDIT: I don't want to get Bill fired, he's a really nice guy, but it's disgusting when we change shifts and looks all excited...

I peaced out of work rather early today, but before I left, I put a post-it on the desk that said:

"Hey 'Bill', this computer keeps getting loads of adware/spyware/inappropriately-contented pop-ups. I advise viewing only work or work-safe sites."

I'll keep you posted.

Here's my idea: print out the internet history when you get in to work one day. Leave it on the computer with a note that says your boss handed it to you and asked you if you knew anything about it and who was visiting those sites. Basically, pawn it off that the boss is taking a keen interest behind the guy's back. That should instill just enough paranoia to keep him clean I'd think.

If you have Windows XP, do this RIGHT before you leave work:

set the screensaver to "My Picture Slideshow". Put the wait time down to 5 minutes, and password protect it with a pw only you know. Then under Settings point the path to the Temporary Internet Files folder where all the naughties are located.... That should scare the bujeezus out of him.

Of course this could totally backfire and he would just "sit back" and "enjoy" the show.
