So...what's new and exciting?

Hey guys, long time no chat! I used to be a regular here and played Planetside to my heart's content up until around January of this past year. Anyways, I kind of skimmed the news and it looks like there is some crazy stuff coming up (big f*cking robots? rawk!) but I wanted to hear from the players what all I should expect if I re-up my account.

The main thing I am hoping for is if they have optimized the game somewhat, because it used to be lag-tastic for me ever since core combat. Beyond that though, are there any new certs, vehicles, weapons, etc? And of course is the gameplay really any different with any of the changes, or is it still mindless zerging and CR5 spamming?

theres alot of new stuff gameplay wise, but no new vehicles at this point.

Well they had released the 512MB memory optimizer thingy a tad back, but they removed part of it as it screwed with Gig people.

I remember around when you left; there's been a lot of talk but very little actual change. The last huge game effecting thing has been Capitols and Continental Dominion.

So there isn't a lot of new stuff then? Tell me about these battle islands, are they that thing they were talking about where outfits can go have battles without the rest of the zerg getting involved?

And the phantasm??! I have tried searching here but can't find any more info about it.

As for the phantasm, it's only really appeared in weekly dev activities. Basically it's an unarmed cloaked air transport which can only be flown by infiltrators.

Actually, looking at the patch code, I see code for audio - 4 12mm's.
