Transferring Sound

Since this computer doesn't have a soundcard, I want to know if it's possible to transfer the sound from games and such to a laptop that I have and just used headphones from that. I have all the sound files and such if I would have to transfer them if it's even possible at all.

nope.

You could go and get a soundcard like an SB 5.1 for < $50

Theres pretty much no ho hope of you have no onboard sound or a sound card.

Rbstr is right, you can get decent sound cards for cheap, or if you just need sound, and dont care about quality, I have about 5 old cards lying around if you want one.

Didn't even think of that, but yeah, theres no reason why you couldn't.

Providing there is a usb port of course.

I suppose any usb/serial device could work.

Yes, a usb port... what modern day computer doesn't have one? And as for sound quality, I would like to actually understand what I'm hearing.

Hmm, ya know I really have no clue how that would work. A usb headset connected to a pc with no sound card. I'm thinking the usb headset would take the digital directly and convert it to audio, so guess it would work. I remember some stuff about this a while back when Creative put out the first set of "digital" speakers that didn't have to have a sound card. Haven't seen much of this technology since then as I think they figured out they would put themselves out of the soundcard business lol.

Thats what I thought too so I assume it should work, since when Im using audio programs I can select which sound device to use, ala modem, sound card, usb headset. Maybe if I get really bored, Ill pull out my sound card and see if it works.

USB audio divices work just like soundcards do, just not internaly and some quallity is lost(only noticible with very high quality things, it is also more CPU intensive)

I got one for $20 ^^^^ But sound wise, its not so great, if you are going to pay more than that, you could get a decent sound card.

On teh other hand, you could always search pricegrabber, or ebay to find you best deal, sound card/speakers, or somehing usb
