they r all good in different situations i say
JH for Close/Very close
Lasher for Close/Medium
and MCG for Medium/Far (in a sense far, nothing like the bolt driver)

Yet people are still moaning about the JH, but that's never gonna stop. However, I'd maintain they're all roughly equal, in their own little ways.

For what they are meant to do, the JackHammer is the best. Remember, the "basis" of heavy assault is for room clearing and up close and personal fights. The other Heavy Assaults have uses, but remember the POINT of Heavy Assault, room clearing.

Strange, I diddnt think the devs knew how to balance them. I still stick with my JH and gauss combo. I can take infantry at any range. Well, almost any range. If they get too far away I pull out the trusty old Bolt Driver.

They're all close, and require different types of fighting styles. The JH can be devastating, but I don't do well with it(mainly because the lack of leading fucks me over), the Lasher is medium for RoF, power and range and the MCG is weaker, faster RoF and longer max range(although effective ranges are up to debate)

As range is not usaly an issue when inside a base/tower fight, and most fights are these, the chaingun loses out. Sure it can lay down a hail of bullets but it still takes time to kill your target, a jackhammer can sometimes oneshot kill you (triple shot) or in normal mode take you out very quickly, the lasher can take out a group of players in an enclosed area without even being able to see the target (targeting the floor at a corner etc).

The only advantage for the chaingun is outside with it's range, and then the recoil spread can make you miss your target a lot with a sustained burst. I am not saying the chaingun is useless but needs a boots, perhaps the following will help.

New ammo type for chaingun only:
Acid filled bullets - shorter range (less propelent as acid takes up more room), small splash damage that eats through both armour and flesh.
This would make the chaingun more favourable in close assaults with its suppression fire, damage would be like the lasher damage but lot less area damage.

There all fairly balanced as it is however the MCG needs a faster TTK against rexos, altho it is fine IMO against Agiles.

The JH is fairly useless unless you get upclose, its the best tower weapon.

The lasher is the best all around weapon, 5 shots to kill with a decent ROF and you can use it down hallways were with the JH youd hafto hide behind something and wait for the range to close in.

I wouldn't say most fights are indoor. Assaults on bases will usually start outside (and depending on how trained the defenders are) can either stay outside, or it can gradually (or quickly) move inward.

Anyways, about the MCG. It's not often that you will find yourself in a tower battle one on one, and it is in a one on one confrontation where the MCG may lose out. I stress the word 'may' in this case because you have yet to take into account health, armor, lag, skill, and luck. On indoor assaults, these beauties shine. A line of these things rushing backdoor will destroy any infantry they encounter, thus giving way to other specialized infantry units (AV, SA).

I agree, range is debateable with the MCG. It should be slightly longer. Acid bullets? Don't think so. Too, how shall I say...far out. It just doesn't fit in Planetside. If we implement acid bullets, why do we not implement biological warfare. Hell, create an entire new certification that allows you to spray deadly biological spores at your enemies. Or how about the CR5 biological missile! Sorry, just rambling...

Nah, lash damage on a Terran weapon? Nah... The lashing of the Lasher is unique to the Vanu. It is a perk. It is our strength. Ours ours ours! You can't have any

I don't think the MCG was meant to be more favorable in close assault. I mean, Lasher Short/Medium, JH short, and MCG Medium.

I think if anything, give the MCG an ammo boost. Give it a higher RoF, an empire specific ammo box that holds more ammo, and make it so the weapon itself loads more ammo.

edit: Lasher is probably one of the best HA weapons at the moment. It is the epitomy of the Vanu's idealology of versatile equipment.
