Getting Images from DVDs

Anyone know of any program that can be used to capture images/ clips from films running on your PC? I tried the ghetto-esque way of trying to record it using fraps but it just refuses to turn on when you have a video running.

So anyone know of a decent way to this/ program to help do it?
