If we needed to, I'm betting we could neutralize/reverse the wave with a bigass bomb/nuke or something along those lines.

Wouldn't that just stir up more movement and waves? They mentioned that waves would hit both sides of britain. That means that this stuff would bouunce around. If we nuked it waves would still probably hit some part of the world.

It would break the wave up, I thikn. Of course, I'm not a physics major, so, meh.

Are you implying that we are going to nuke a tidal wave?

All you could really do in a situation like this is evacuate. Even though scientists know it might happen soon, they don't know exactly when, and the wave travels very fast. So its the same situation as an earthquake. You're pretty much helpless.

What Im thinking they would try to do, is launch a nuke into the water a few hundred miles prior to where the wave would hit. IN addition to annihilating any ocean life in there for eon, sna making PETA shit itself, it would generate, I think, a massive wave. Unfortunatly, waves go in circular patterns unless created at an angle.

So, the nuke would have to hit the surface at 45 or less degrees, and explode. The wave would hit the other wave, resulting in one of a bunch of possibilities.

1: Like a sine wave, the nuke wave hits the island wave, and the island wave is either 1: Pwnd, or 2: weakened.
2: nuke wave hits island wave. Creats epically monstrous whirlpool that sucks in ships for 50 miles.
3: zee n00ks! Zey d0 nus'ing! And the waves pass through each other harmlessly (Not so sure about this one...)

The trajectory of the warhead would have zero bearing on the explosive forces. It could be launched from a submarine a mile under...

As for the wave canceling out the other one...I dont think the wave from the nuke itself will be any better, odds would tend to point to the opposite.

So ultimately what we have is Deep Impact...but with France surviving.

Too many unkowns to do really anything at all... namely a time frame... If people are told they need to evacuate you get large scale panic and people die in the ensuing riots... If you don't do anything the supposed wave kills people. You use a nuke you fuck up an ecosystem plus there are no guaruntees, if detonated at even slightly the wrong time or slightly the wrong angle the Tsunami will just gain more power, or there will just be another big wave out there...
