Hey there. Ive only recently heard of Planetside for the first time, but it seems really decent. Thing is, Im not new to MMOs, and I now will never sign up for one unless Ive trialed/beta'd it, not worth the hassle otherwise in case I dont enjoy it.
Are there any free trials going on at the moment? I saw the fileplanet.com one, but that was closed, the only other thing I can see is that "Recruit a Buddy" thing on the game's frontpage. Is that anything like the Buddy Keys for SWG? and if yes, any chance someone could mail/PM me one? Cant wait to try the game. Cheers. |

I believe that even the old buddy keys they had required you to enter your CC info before they would activate. If you buy the game and have 30 free days you have to enter CC info to activate. I've cancelled and restarted more times than I'd admit, and I've never had an issue with them overcharging. Sounds like bad luck.
In answer to your question, though, I don't think they have any buddy keys any more. They gave them away when the game originally shipped, but $10 for the game and a month of play is a smoking deal. |

Aye I suppose, Im just not a big fan of SOEs horrific lack of support for European customers, they seem even less eager to help when they're making money from it.
Ill give it a try, but if the bastards overcharge me again I think Ill sue them, just for fun. Anyway. Quick question: how customisable are the controls in Planetside? ie, can I remap whatever the default flight controls are to my 'stick? |

Currently there is no joystick support, but they are working on it. For now it's just keyboard/mouse for flying.

FLying in PS, is kind of like flying a helo, only simpler, you have strait Up/down controls froward, backward and side to side(strafe) then using the mouse you can contol direction(if's you've played RTCW:ET and gone in spectator thats basicaly what it's like)

Ah, nice one Hezzy, Ill give that a shot when the DL finishes. One hour to go, woot, I think Im going to enjoy this.
Oh yes, one last question. In case I do decide to buy the game, can anyone recommend some dedicated tread-heads on the European server(Werner?) that I can group with? Seeing as theres no 'stick support, Id rather follow my second largest FPS passion and blast people into tiny bits with MBTs |
