Having just gotten a new printer with a scanner, I decided to try it out, and in the process post PCGAMER's PlanetSide article, "Going PlanetSide". No, it doesn't contain any info on BFRs, but it is interesting to read, and it is pretty evident that the reviewer totally loves the game. Just click the thumbnails for a bigger shot of the page.
Anyhow, view, read, and enjoy. edit- If it looks too small to read, its probably because IE is resizing the shot. hold your mouse over the pic until the resize icon pops up in the lower right corner. Last edited by Electrofreak; 2004-08-18 at 05:34 PM. |

Well the author basically writes the article almost as a battle story. It's not really a review of the game at all (though in the little grey box on the second page, PlanetSide is rated at 93%), but more of an exciting story of a typical battle on Werner for the Vanu (albiet a bit hyped up).
I found it fun to read, but certainly not informative in any sense. However, it will certainly drag in some new players, at least in Europe (tho PCGAMER is a popular gaming mag here in the states too.) The only problem was that the magazine cost $15 (it has a couple CDs included) so not everyone will be buying one. I saw the word "PlanetSide" on the front and immediately bought it (being the nerdy fanboi that I am). Very colorful, kind of exciting play-by-play of a day of combat, with informative bits thrown in here and there about how the game works. Not a bad article at all, and it is listed as a "Special Feature" article, which is pretty cool. I Hate Pants, this is the August 2004 copy of PCGAMER, so its on the shelves of magazine racks right now pretty much. Got mine at Barnes & Noble Bookstore. edit- on an interesting note, the top link provided for information on PS at the end of the article is NOT www.planetside.com, but www.planetside-universe.com instead! Perhaps they thought this site was even more informative and useful than Sony's Last edited by Electrofreak; 2004-08-18 at 05:24 PM. |

China? ....*pictures the lag as his computer attempts to translate the funny simbols into meaningful sentances that basically say 'follow me'......
So....are the servers on China gonna be bigger..since there are more of them? How many Chinese we got out here? |

Dunno. All I know is that China will be getting its own server, and most likely only a Chinese version of PlanetSide will run on it.
I know that a couple weeks back, a CSR made some really wierd broadcasts to everyone in the game, stuff like "ddddddd coopershen" and stuff. link: http://psforums.station.sony.com/ps/...cending&page=1 Apparently, it was one of the China server CSRs being trained |

I get PCGAMER, and for a second I was just like..."what the fuck." I broke out my August 04 issue and flipped all through it, and couldn't find that PS article, nor did I recall seeing it in the first place. Then I realized you posted pics from the UK version =/
Nice article, though. Nice to see PS still getting some attention in the gaming media. |
