Yeah, I know this has been posted here once before, but that thread turned into a huge flame war.
Anyhow, I'm on the market for a nice pair of USB Headphones WITH Microphone. I'm seein all sorts of crap here at newegg.com and I'll be damned if I have a clue which one to buy. I'd like to basically get the best buy as long as it is $50 or under. So, suggest away! What should I get? |

Eck guys, thats not the point. I'm not asking WHERE to buy it from. I'm getting it from newegg.com because I'm buying a bunch of other stuff with it and I want it all to come in once nice box, with 1 credit card payment.
What I NEED to know is WHAT to buy. WHAT is the BEST USB Headset WITH MIC that is <= $50.00 |

i have it, i love it, few complaints, not important ones though, like the fuzzy thing that goes on one of the ears fell off, permanatly, after about 9 months of usage, at least, and the fuzzy thing on the microphone fell off, but thats fine as i dont spit when i talk, but besides that its great, oh, and it isnt USB. |

USB = win.
Seriously tho, because they tend to be higher quality in general, and I'd rather hook my headphones right up to my front USB port, it would work best with my setup. If theres an absolutely superb non-USB set, I'll go for it tho. SDM, I've actually been thinkin about those, but I'm more about the foam earmuffs. Hey, if its comfortable though, I may get them. Basically guys this is a big decision for me as I have a rather loud computer (which I don't mind because it OCs like a bitch) so I tend to use my headphones whenever I'm gaming or listening to music. So thats like, whenever I'm at my computer. Which is, a lot. So they need to be comfortable for extended periods of time, and hold up pretty well as some of my outfit members know I can get a little pissed off when I'm in game on TS and start damaging things. ("THAT MOTHERFUCKING SKILLESS STARFIRE FUCKING PUSSY, ILL TAKE A FUCKIN REAVER AND SHOVE IT UP HIS PATHETIC NOOB ASS, THAT LITTLE COCKSUCKIN BITCH!" ::SLAM:: ) What about the Plantronic ones, like the 90s (and higher). Anyone have those? They interest me as well, and the Seinnhauser ones dont look bad either. OMG IM SO CONFUSED, HALP! edit- oh, and FYI, I don't really like any of the "behind the head" types. Good 'ol fashioned normal-style headphones for me. Last edited by Electrofreak; 2004-09-04 at 06:50 AM. |

Well, I've pretty much got it down to 2 choices. Its either the Sennheiser PC150 Headset or the Plantronics DSP500 headset. Now I just have to pick one. Here are the differences.
The Sennheiser PC150 Headset isn't USB (like I'd originally wanted) but they have excellent sound quality, are reportedly pretty sturdy, and are $56.00 at newegg.com. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...106-346&depa=0 The Plantronics DSP500 Headset is USB, and essentially has a built-in sound card. Which is cool, because I'm currently using on-board sound. However, I've heard some people say that they aren't as good sound quality overall as the Sennheiser PC150s, and have a tendency to break. They are also a couple bucks more, costing $63.00 at newegg.com. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...106-012&depa=0 So, what should I choose? The high-quality, reliable, non-USB Sennheiser PC150 Headset, or the high-technology, digitally enhanced, USB-capable Plantronics DSP500 Headset? Help me out here guys, I've gotta pick one before I submit my order to newegg.com at midnight tonight (after my paycheck deposit has cleared). Thats 5 hours from now, so please post your opinion on which headset I should get. |
