Hi, I'm looking into using a FTP server to quickly transfer files from my school to my home computer. However, I know virtually nothing about them. I would like to use a free one (do you need software to host? what about to connect on a client side?) Thanks.

Does your internet provider give you any web space? If so this is usually ftp space you can access and use to store files.
There use to be some free online drive places, but I think they all went broke. You could get a domain and host it somewhere cheap like godaddy and you will get plenty of space and bandwidth for ftp. Other than that, buy a external hd or jump drive or something. |
