New Patch, New Problems

Just listing what I experienced tonight after the patch downloaded;

1) Major choppiness in game

2) My FPS dropped a good 20 frames

3) Hard crashes resulting in having to reset the PC 3 times in 3 hours

I know the patch is only about 14 hours old or so, but if you have had problems with the game since last patch, post here. Just wondering if everyone else is having the same problem I'm having.

FPS was about the same, but the change in the way vehicle despawning works is rumored to have caused some funkiness with Gal despawns. More on this as it develops.

All I've really noticed is now if I get packet loss and hit auto run it will bounce me back to where I was when I got the packet loss.

I had this problem a while back, They brought the patch out and i downloaded and I had these same problems. I tried everything to fix it like changing the AGP Aperture in the BIOS, re-installing drivers etc... until my brother suggested i uninstall my Anti-Virus, I was reluctant at first because my AV never caused PS to be choppy or crash in anyway, i would just turn off the firewall and play.

I uninstalled my AV as a last resort and PS ran brilliantly, It wasnt a smart thing to do in the long run though as my comp is vulnerable. Im not saying this would work for everyone but it worked for me, I hope you manage to get it sorted.

Try deleting your PlanetSide.exe and then running the patcher.

The patcher does a simple checksum when it runs, which sometimes doesn't catch a problem in the .exe if the file remains the right size. I heard some other people had problems with this patch, and removing the .exe and re-downloading it via the patcher fixed things.

Ah, but that is the beauty of the Devs new packet-blocking-exploit fix.

I've noticed that if I lag a bit and then get the connection back, any shots I fired just before I lagged don't do any damage. And I bounce a bit. Which annoys.

Noticed several problems.

1: On spawn, I will start to run out the spawn tubes, only to be jerked back to the spawn tubes. I usually make it up to the equipment terminals and poof, I'm back in the spawn tube.

2: Hard crashes have increased. I am now experiencing more hard crashes (i.e. system locks and needs rebooting). They used to occur only during warps, but now, I get them for no reason at all. They happen in the most peculiar places. One happened when I bailed (with my cud out to do an orbital). Hard crash lockup. Rebooted, and started ps again. I appeared exactly where I was (300 meters up) with cud in hand.

Original crashes due to warp have disappeared though (since I crash and reset more often now, I don't stay ingame long enough to get that memory lockup I was getting). I'm sure that bug will be back though, once they fix the game freeze/lock bug I'm getting now (if they ever do). I am quite used to playing with a buggy game now, but losing my newley acquired BFR due to some crappy freeze will make me most unhappy (fix this quick SOE).
