I have been thinking about Hacking and why I don't want it.
Currently you need Adv Hacking to reap any significant benefit, which is 5 cert points. That should not be the case imo. I propose that all the things you can do with Adv Hacking now, should be sent down to regular Hacking. This frees up Adv Hacking for some fun stuff Instead of simply scrambling IFF on doors, Adv Hackers will convince the door it belongs to their empire. So if Ghanon is TR and a VS Adv Hacker hacks the backdoor, it will only open for VS till a TR Hacker/Adv Hacker hacks it back. NOTE: NonHackers can still do what they do (get passed Repossessed doors, but not reset it etc). If an Adv Hacker hacks a term, the same thing will happen. But the term will 'run a diagnostic' every so often to reset itself. Adv Hackers can hack Phalanx Turrets, that will act as if owned by their empire. NOTE: This means you can hack your own Phalanx if your base is hacked and still use it. Adv Hackers can hack the Main Terminal in the lobby to scramble the entire base's security (IFF on doors, pain fields, Autofire by Phalanx, and Link Benefits), which lasts until a Hacker/Adv Hacker resets it or until the base resets it itself via 'diagnostic sweep'. The Control Console is the big daddy, so when it changes state (hack, resecure, etc.), all the hacks running in the base get reset to default. |

I just now noticed that those are all offensive uses. I think defensive uses should be pondered as well.
A couple of examples: Adv Hacking your own Main Term to enhance the IFFs (maybe 10x hacking time), hack up to 2 friendly doors with a Firewall (makes it impossible to open for enemies unless you are an adv hacker and willing to spend 60 seconds doing it). |

yeah personally i think that all regular abilitys (hacing, medic, engineering) should be 2 certs and their advanced should be 3. I dont really find it fair that if we are not going advanced anyway, that we have to go for 6 cert points just to be able to heal and repair ourselves.
Good ideas man I like them a lot. |

I gotta agree, support classes need some love.
I would propose that basic hack has all the current adv hack abilities, except for speed of hack, and ability to JACK vehicles. That way, you can spend the extra 2 points to get faster hacks and jacking ability. Maybe throw in a few more cool things for adv, like hacking wall turrets (I'm not sure on this one, but something more would be cool). As it is now, basic hacking is just about worthless (you either pop for the entire 5 certs, or do without). You don't see that with med or engy (their basic works just fine). While your at it, some more love for adv med too (raise the dead is cool, but hardly worth the 2 points). Maybe throw in some faster heal times to the mix.

I think a point swap on Basic and Advanced would be good.
For the people who only carry Basic Med and Eng, it would free up two certs to get something else that is useful. Basic Eng: 2 CE: 3 Basic Med: 2 Adv Med: 3 (and maybe add in the ability to revive self?) Basic Hacking: 2 Adv Hacking: 3 Or maybe even split up the Adv Levels into more specific abilities. Like for Eng, Spits and Sensors: 1 point, Mines: 1 point, and maybe faster repair ability for another 1 point. |
