Those things hold less and cost more then the mini hard drives that they use in iPods and the like. Why haven't they put those in a digital camera?

too slow, to much battery usage, as it has to constantly spinn if it wants to have a decent write time.

EDIT: and the uber costs, if an Ipod wich is basicaly a battery, a mini HD, a case, and a cheap circuit board costs $300. A miniHD probably cots $200-$250 for 20gb, (Assuming the profit margin on an Ipod is acctualy less than $100) plus the optics and the quite expensive circuits that cameras need.

Keyword: me. This thread is pointless rambling. Plus, some cameras do have hard drives in them.

An MP3 just needs to read it can easily do that faster than the bitrate, but a camera has to write and it has to do it reasolable fast, but minHD's don't go so fast. Plus above, and the fact that it is rater big to put into a small-med sized camera

Then why not use a little bit of memory as a buffer? Wouldn't need more then 1mb. Just take the pic to the flash memory and transfer it over to the HDD and then whipe the flash for the next pic.

I haven't seen any cameras with hard drives in them. And so far you seem to be the only one who thinks this thread is pointless.
