Say there were a 4th Empire...

Say there were a 4th Empire, a new side, what would it be like? Here are some titles to brain storm - HA/AV weapons, max units, tanks, Assault Buggies, BFRs, names, and, of course - the most important, colours? My ideas :

Ha: rail gun effective short/medium/long range combat, very slow reload time, very high damage.

AV: Gattling gun with loads and loads of bullets, very fast refire rate and CoF the same as a beamer.

Tank - 1 driver (with gun), 3 gunners. All guns - 12mm bullet thingies. Very fast, very lightly armoured.

Buggy - 1 man cross between ATV/buggy, with a Furys gun, only 30 bullets instedda 2 in one round, faster refire. slow speed.

Name - The Exiled Legion. Story - The gathering of the soldiers from all three empires, who decided they didn't belong with them. They made lots of cool weps that wuz the cross between all the other empires ones, and they brought piece to the land by spreading their attitutde of the joined empires across Auraxis!!

COLOURS - Red, blue, purple, black, green, yellow

I would think they would be a neutral empire, one that would have a completely different outlook. Possibly, they would be members of the NC who thought that fighting the other empires was not the way to peace. They could be traders, aiding who they think has the best chance, who they favor, etc.

(And pls no one say that the 4th empire exists already, we all know)

Well, what would be the point in having an entirely new empire that does'nt fight? I mean c'mon, its a FPS.....

Plus I don't think PlanetSide needs another empire (in fact I think it'd be detrimental to the game).

An entirely organic Empire would be very interesting, as would an entirely mechanical Empire (think Terminators/SkyNET). I think, if they ever add a fourth Empire, it'll be one of those two. They're both very gimmicky, and would be a lot more attractive than just another human side with a slightly different outlook on the war.

I would hate to see this, for the sole reason that I think the Ancient Tech stuff looks horrible, and don't want anymore of that silvery, shiny, sleek crap in the game than there already is. I mean, damn, how much cooler would the flail be if it were actually a self-propelled energy howitzer instead of that floaty, shiny, "what the hell is that thing?" vehicle it is now.

Also, re: the original poster's ideas, I think you're deviating from the standard setup too much. Having the new Empire's MBT be basically the same as a Raider would kind of defeat the purpose of having that vehicle be the MBT. MBTs are meant to be able to stand up to lot's of punishment and excel at killing stuff on the ground. That means armor and splash damage. Lacking heavy armor and splash damage means it would be able to do neither particularily well. Same general feeling for many of your ideas. Nothing personal of course, but making a new side which is totally different from the other Empire's in every regard is a bit much. Certain vehicles and weapons need to follow certain guiding principles, or that Empire will probably never be balanced.
