Ok, so today I had a half day (got out at 11:30) but my mom took me out at 10:30 to go take my Road Exam for my liscense. No biggy. So I go there (it's about 30 minutes away and my appointment was at 11:30) and sign in, thinking I'm the only one there. Turns out there are about 5 people with the same appointment, no biggy. So I wait 45 minutes before I go for the exam. I'm going, no mistakes at all great. Last turn, it's red and I have to make a right. I see no signs telling me not too, so I go. No biggy. Then I pull up the the Registry and the trooper asks me which town I'm from. So I told him and he passes me, but tells me I ran a red light. I had no idea, but apparently you can't turn right on a red (even though there wasn't a sign there stating this) in Leominster. So I figure whatever, not a big deal, I still passed. So I go inside to get my temporary liscense and I wait in line about 15 minutes. I get called up and the damn NDR (National Driving Registry) goes down so they can't issue my liscense. (NDR is used to check to make sure new drivers don't have anything in other states preventing them from driving). So this is really retarded and I have to go back tomorrow to get my liscense. (another 30 minute drive. >.>) So I have concluded the MA RMV is the most retarded branch, because they can't keep their damn network up/have a backup one in case this goes down. So if it's down again tomorrow I will officially hate MA.

I have driven in MA. You can have it and all of New England. The roads suck, the Buracracy running it even worse... it's really annoying.
Bleah. And the no right on red... if it ain't posted.. how the hell are you supposed to know otherwise???

Its not just the east coast....
In California, you can make a U-Turn unless a "NO U TURN" sign is posted. Fast foward => I'm in Portland Oregon, I miss my street and go to the next one and make a U-turn and there was no signs saying I couldn't. I get pulled over for making an illegal U-turn. Officer says well I know in California they do have laws about intersections not allowing U-Turns. I respond by stating that in California there will be sign stating that. He responds, well we would have to put one on every intersection here, there's a sign way back saying no U-Turns allowed. I respond in California, thiere would be a sign posted at every intersection regaurdless. I win...he lets me go. But just to give you some more of the lunacy between Oregon and California... If your travelling north on I-5 going towards Oregon, the speed limit is 75. Soon as you cross the Oregon border, its 55. I wonder why California put up signs right before you hit the Oregon border, warning you that the Speed Limit will change to 55 when you cross the boundry....Can't tell you how many times I've been followed by Oregon State Troopers just waiting for me to accelerate past 55 (In CA, 55 is just a suggestion). But of course, Oregon is a state where its illegal to pump your own gas |

Well, New Jersey has it's famous "New Jersey Stop Sign", where all the stop signs are not actually stop signs, but they're actually yield signs. The vast majority of people simply roll through a stop sign at a much slower speed like a yield sign instead of actually stopping. I don't know if this is a problem, but I have heard the phrase "New Jersey Stop Sign" a couple of times...

Took it at Leominster, supposedly one of the easier ones in my area. Also, with the right on red thing, it's state wide that you can unless a sign is posted. But the morons in Leominster decided to be morons and make more laws to feel important. Ugh, I hate this state. (I prefer Colorado, better skiing, less dumb crap, like stopping at the bottom of a freeway on ramp, and it's a Republican state =P teeheehee. The best thing about MA are my friends and the fact that my pastor is more biblical teaching than the one I had in CO, which was more thematic (used Bible to prove a point, not teaching what the Bible has to say))

K, picked my liscense up today =)
But while I was walking out, some guy was screaming and cussing and threatening this guy in the back of his car. So my mom went back inside the RMV and got a cop who went up and talked to the guy who was yelling. We left while he was still talking, so I don't know if the guy was arrested or not. |
