Okay, so during the middle of a big war for a key bio-lab, you decide to send out a stealth unit to cut the throat of a high ranking opponent. The crew successfully kills him, hiding in his little office, giving out commands, but then what? Can't he just respawn and continue issueing commands? What I think is that if you kill someone with commanding capabilities during battle, they should lose those powers for a set amount of time. Otherwise, it really takes all the fun out of stealth assasination. Once you're good at it, it's no fun taking out a light soldier, you wanna go for the big cheese. Maybe you will get a minute to infiltrate with the rest of your outfit, but by then the opposing troops will probably be working on their own, unless some big attack plan is about kick in, and that would just be pure luck. So, I was wondering, is there anything like this in the game now? Do you think they should do anything about this?

Assassinating officers will be more potent than you think. You won't be going into an empire's sanctuary and killing off the 5-star general handing down assignments and watching the battle from a larger scale. You'll be taking out the field commanders. If you kill off the leader of the command squad that's defending a base with a plattoon, you'll cause enough chaos and disrupt the chain of command enough to give you the advantage. Sure, they'll respawn, but not immediately and not right where you killed him. He's gotta get back to the front line and he's gotta regroup with his troops and get back into the flow of the battle.
It's hard lead a squad when you're dead, basicly. Because of the nature of the game, death isn't final. Therefore, killing the upper staff, who doesn't need to be at the battle anyways, isn't going to accomplish much, and shouldn't. But that doesn't mean that a crack team of assassins won't be feared.

Most squads will probably be using a voice program like Teamspeak so really does it matter if they're killed? They might not be on the battlefield for the split second decisions but for the most part they're going to still be there talking to their guys. I'm guessing that a voice-comm program is going to be very vital for being a succesful outfit/platoon.

You know what would be the creepiest thing to see? An entire special forces unit composed entirely of inf suits taking a base. It'd take massive coordination and at least one stealth unit for each base defender, but how cool would it be if it happened? "Console hacked, KILL YER MARK!" Then they all kill their targets simultaneously...hehe.

I know that I am setting up a system where if I die, the next up gives all needed commands, no questions asked, just assume command until I (or who ever is the command in that situation) can get back. And then the next up, etc. Also, if I lead an assault / defense, the sub commanders will be responsible for the people they command, etc so even if I die, it doesnt change anything in the long run... Overall tactics and strategy of the operation wont be changed much, and the delay in commands will only be 1-2 seconds.

If you only gain access to the interface(s) when you create a squad and are the leader, then your no.2 wont have access to the interface. This may or may not be vital to command the squad we dont yet know... If all you need is CEPs to gain access to it then that may be better - but again I doubt you could command the squad else this could lead to exploitation (playing about with teh waypoints and so forth to cause grief). So I think that we need to find out does command pass to another person when you die - or can you configure your squad so that it does that...?

I think that it will be as simple as this:
I set up a rank system out of game (all outfilts have) Then when you see someone die, till you see their health come back, and hear them resume cmd, the next ranking officer takes cmd. That as little to do with in game ceps.

Example... (the worst case scenario) A large platoon is coming in from the north, they destroy our power, and then kill me, and we have no remaining spawn pts near by. then yes, it will hurt, as I will be unable to command the battle for several min possibly. However if your next in command is still alive and he is a good commander (but has 0 cep) he should still be able to tell the troops what to do. Chatting, though inefficient, still works. If you tell someone that they need to support the south wall, they will know what you want them to do. You dont need fancy stuff like nav pts all the time. Many times, just chatting will work. The most common scenario that I see is that we do have a spawn pt so that I will only be out of action for a min-min and a half right? So say you kill me, then have a major push from another direction (hammer and anvil or something) my next in line should be capable of giving orders, and taking care of things for a few min until i can get back. You can Chat and tell your troops that the enemy is now coming from direction X and the one form direction Y is a diversion, divert forces... Its not that hard, we have been doing without any form of cep for many years in fps, cep stuff will help, but will not be vital for a few min. Anything that can happen in a few min can be conveyed in a quick chat as well as a nav pt, etc....
