Ski Trip

I've been offered to go with my school on a trip to yer country (the USA, for the slow), to go skiing/ snowboarding. It's to "North Conway Village, New Hampshire," with a one day stop off in New York. Why am I telling you? Well, I'm going to be supremely dumb, and ask if any of you have ever been there/ near there, and if so, was the skiing any good? I've gathered from recent posts that you've been getting a helluva lotta snow lately, so umm maybe you live near there. Probably not ey.. merh. Oh and it'll be in Feb ('06). Thanks for any help.

1. Snowboard dont ski
2. Ski'ers are evil and get in the way
3. Avoid the following towns in NY: Saranac Lake:Lake Placid:Plattsburg:Tupperlake: Keen(Keenvally)
4.If some hick asks you Chevy vs Ford just say some Europen term and confused the hell out of him
5. Clip any ski'ers back tips so they go flying and break something due to #2
6. If a ski patrol says your going to fast just say F*** off and keep going

Thats alll the advice i can think of for now Have fun

"LOL NASCAR!"

Then run away giggling.

it shouldn't be that bad of trails at this place....new england did just get hit by a good amount of snow and most of NY too....also you said you were going to New York which probably means New York City...you will like it there, it's an amazing city. so many things to do and see....if you like city's, you'll like New York City..Absolutely the best...

Any skilled skier can leave a snowboarder wondering "WTF just happened" in terms of speed AND control.

Another example of a casual snowboarder that goes 5-10 times a year that thinks he's hot shit maybe your not, but you sure come off sounding like it.

Yup dam proud of it to; ive been kicked off Whiteface Mt around 4 or 5 times and got into a fight with some jackass guy who was a Ski patrol. Ive also cliped out my fair share of ski'ers since they got in my way (def if getting in my way: Your on a 2x Black Dimond when you should be on a Green Circle) (Or your just a jack ass and are in need or a facefull of snow with a ride down the mt on your back) Overall yes i am a jackass snowboarder but its so much fun

hhmmm modesty is obivously something you don't have. I'd expect like the rest of us competitors (regardless of style) that you aren't a complete jackass to beginners... unless they are doing wedge turns down a double black taking up the whole trail, that shit just pisses me off.

No normaly i am quiet nice and dont brag or anything but meh im in a werid mood. Depends on where the begginers are i mean if you see a ski'er doing a wedge down a 2x black dimond then you have to say wtf. But if i see a begginer ski'er on a green circle ya ill leave them alone because thats where they are suposed to be. oh secondly most 2x black dimond trails are not very wide so ya that cuts out doing the carving. i just normaly stay in the glades anyways

sounds right, but at the two mountains I frequent (Sunday River, and Sugarloaf) there are quite a few wide, long but ridiculously steep trials. One of the Mountains of Sunday River called White Cap has a few signature trials on them, most famously White Heat. Usually mogul filled so you don't have any problems with beginners but before they major tourist days they groom everything and after everything else is skied off and crappy a rumor circles that "The snow on White Heat is GREAT!" because very few people are going on it to begin with and those that do are actually carving instead of skidding. By about 2 or 3 you start seeing these people trying to wedge down a trail because they didn't pay attention to the NO FALL ZONE sign that says if you fall you're going to the bottom.

Moving the thread train along here...

I have indeed been to North Conway, NH. It's not a bad little area, definatly small town america. Only place I know of that has a subway with an awesome mountain view. But alas I went up there during the summer not during the winter so I have no idea on skiiing conditions. I do know we have like 3 feet of snow on the ground here in northern Mass.
