I have an old Fujistu C-5130. 700 mhz cpu, 4 gb harddrive, 32mb memory, from the golden year of 1999.
Anyways, my problem isn't with the laptop itself, it's with the battery. It's dead, and it's impossible to find any spares or generic brands. So I'm really left with one option that stops short of buying a new laptop, opening up the battery. Has anyone ever done this? Good idea, bad idea? Any pointers to take the battery apart without mutilating it and making it unusable? I figure I can cut open the bottom (the side that faces the motherboard) and then do my work through that hole, then cover it with a fiberglass plate which I can remove later on if I need to. I plan to replace the dead cells with 1.2 V AA Lithium batteries (8). Will there be any effects on my laptop's life/performance if I increase the voltage of the batter by adding more batteries? Say I put in 10, or 13 batteries, what will happen? Last edited by Meursault00; 2005-03-02 at 02:40 AM. |
